hello tumblr! 👋
spirk-trek used to be my blog, but it got shadowbanned earlier this year. i've decided to return by making a whole new account...
i'm really looking forward to reconnecting with the fandom. losing my blog, online community, and outlet for restoring old zine pages genuinely broke my heart. let's try again <3

Hello everyone!
After six long months, I’ve decided to make a new blog :) I hope this will at least show up on the dashboards of those who are still following. Please join me over at the-uss-premise!
We are still in the process of trying to contact everyone we reached out to about being in the zine. Unfortunately, after learning from experience, it's not safe on Tumblr to send DMs too quickly, or DMs with links ever, so we're having some difficulty getting everyone on the discord server. This is going to be very important, as it will now be our primary method of communication with contributors.
email: thezinedirective @ gmail . comORadd kat directly on discord: @ katruyck
We apologize for what probably looks a lot like disorganization. The shadowban situation has really forced us to jump through hoops to get everyone in one place. Thank you for your help!

Reblogging from beyond the grave again for reach 💀
For anyone I messaged on here about the zine… All our correspondences were deleted when I was shadowbanned. Please reach out via email or discord so we can reestablish connection! I don’t want to lose any of you!
***separate post since the original is very long and might get lost to scrolling***
The new blog for The Zine Directive is up and running:
I’ve made a bluesky for it as well, since Tumblr’s days seem numbered:
If you want an extra incentive to follow my personal account over on bluesky (spirk-trek), I’m going to start it off by going through my ever-growing collection of fanzines :) I plan to post updates about TZD on both accounts.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. I really wish it wasn’t like this, but I’ve been thinking about it for days now, and tumblr just isn’t a place for me anymore. Maybe one day it’ll be different, but until then…
I am absolutely devastated, if I'm being honest. I have health issues, both mental and physical, that make it really difficult for me to make friends in real life. I never expected to make online friends either, or be welcomed into the fandom like I have. I never expected to find so much joy in exploring a side of Star Trek I never had through fanzines and its history.
Since my "ban," this is what almost all the notes on my posts look like:
My ability to interact with others has been completely taken away. I can't comment on posts, send asks, or receive messages. Artists can't even see the nice things I say under their posts. So, I keep asking myself, what's the point?
As you can see in the first image, my posts are also being auto-flagged. This is one of several posts still in my drafts that are "under review" for "mature content." If Kirk having bruises on his face is considered mature content, then there's absolutely no way for me to continue sharing fanzines even if I did want to put all the effort into restoring them for almost nobody to see.
Tumblr is broken, and those with the power to fix it don't seem to have any intention of doing so. Logging in just makes me sad now.
So, I'm moving over to bluesky, and I really hope some of you will join me there. It won't be the same, but I'm trying not to give into my instinct of just disappearing.
The one silver lining is that I will be able to share some fanzine art there that I couldn't even think about posting on tumblr.
As promised, the new blog for the zine project is up and running:
Thank you to those in the comments/reblogs for your indignation as well as your kindness. If you want an extra incentive to follow me over on bluesky, I am going to start my account off with going through my ever-growing collection of fanzines :)
I plan on posting updates to the zine on both accounts. Peace and long life to you all <3

On a scale of 1 to Jim and Spock, how far can you lovingly gaze at someone.
