Splatoon Polls

@splatoonpolls

the unoffical hub for splatoon related polls, memes, and silly linguistics headcanons Run by @druvjelly (any pronouns, fedex lost my gender) (I’m a fast typer who forgets to spellcheck several times)

Hello and welcome to splatoon polls

Similar to blogs like @onepiece-polls, this blog is for anything and everything related to polls with splatoon in them. Currently I will mainly be reblogging polls however. Because I’m the admin for @gentle-giant-swag & @best-dad-battle.

Also I will reblog bioshock stuff if you give me a cookie.

But quick introduction. I’m from Sweden and my favorite mode all around is salmon run, I am a 5 star hydra main and my favorite PVP mode is rainmaker. Also my favorite splatband is the bottom feeders. Also my pronouns are everything. FedEx lost my gender

Brackets being held

Best cat (coming soon)

Worst splatoon stage (coming soon)

Best splatbands (coming soon)

I don’t read dead dove

But I just want people to mention what the dove is.

Dead dove do not eat without any extra input is just gambling.

Is this going to be ”A little life” level angst? Or terrifier level gore? Or just graphic rape.

WRITE OUT THE DOVE

"can you be a writer without being a reader?" well what do you mean by "can" and what do you mean by "writer" but more importantly why would you want to?????? If you are so uninterested in books that you don't feel a need or desire to read then what appeal do you find in writing them? maybe you're working in the wrong medium dude

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is generally well meaning able bodied people wondering why sign language isn’t universal.

  1. *Sign language, like verbal language have their own families. Nicaraguan sign language is a creole language isolate. American sign language is related to French sign but not British sign language, which is more related to Australian sign language and New Zealand sign language.
  2. Just like verbal languages, the development of sign language will differ depending on geographical, social, and political factors. Irish sign language has two versions depending on the gender of the speaker due to ISL being taught in gender segregated schools.
  3. Name me one NATURAL verbal language which is universal. Not a constructed language. So no esperanto (which is also not super universal because is mostly based on Romance languages and other indo European languages. So ignoring certain stuff uncommon in those languages like tones)
  4. Dialects in verbal languages are different. Take a look at even Californian English and compare it to Scottish highland English. They have different slang and pronunciation. So why would sign language be the exact same in the same country even between thousands of miles or just segregation (look back at point 2)
  5. think about it for a second. WHY would it be universal? Deaf people aren’t a monolith. Like the only thing a deaf person from Malaysia have in common with a deaf person from Finland is that they’re deaf. They grew up in different cultures and those cultures had several deaf communities who created a way of communication which was the best for them.
  6. You probably don’t mean a universal language. You mean a lingua Franca. It already exists and it is a pidgin language commonly being used at international events. It is called international sign.

* I am not deaf/Hoh & dont know any sign language. This is based more on what I know about sign language from reading articles about it and watching deaf people and linguists explain sign language. If you’re a deaf language and/know a sign language. please correct me.

Dw dude I'm Deaf and yeah, this is right. Although you should probably change 'able bodied' to 'hearing' cause lots of Deaf people don't consider Deafness a disability.

Got it! I will change the og post todsy

I just need people to understand that while splatoon does have darker or edgier moments. Doesn’t that mean it is suddenly no longer also a game mainly meant for kids/teens.

It is strange how kids media is automatically ”Barbie horse adventure” and it feeds into the idea that media for kids is automatically much less serious. Or that media meant for teens and below can’t possible tackle harsh stuff.

Like one movie I used to love growing up was Bridge to Terabithia, it did tackle stuff like poverty, bullying, and death but children can grasp that. 7 year old me could grasp that.

Honestly kids media with mature content is probably proof that the creator knows kids aren’t stupid. Same with kids media having scary moments because the author knows how to make something scary enough without it being just spooky ghost or even unbearable for most adults.

It is also a way for people to expose themselves as people with fairly limited palettes and/or are still insecure about their taste in media. Just because media is edgy doesn’t that make it mature. Just because a piece of media is mature doesn’t that make it edgy.

The middle ground for kids has been ebbed away at. Either media is for kids, usually under 12, or Mature these days. Its very limiting.

Yeah what do kids have? Miraculous Ladybug? Do kids nowadays still enjoy Lego ninjago? Because these shows are basically the only two contemporary shows I can think of which possessed a middle ground. Without being preachy in a way that it shows they look down on kids.

When it comes to edginess, I watched a really iconic Swedish movie called Sune’s Sommar like 2 years ago because it was being aired on TV. While Sweden is overall much more open to cursing and such. It understood the way kids and both adults act and react to certain type of comedy. Which is also a complaint I see with plenty of adult comedies, where edginess is just cursing and sex joke without having a sort of depth to it (you probably know which ones I’m talking about)

me: [gets ao3 comment notification email]

also me: [sees it’s a scammer asking me to pay them for art of my fic and to message them on discord]

anyways. I’m going to bed.

So I don’t know if it’s the autism or what; but having people in the kitchen as me (especially unprompted) fills the kitchen with this type of unnerving aura which I really can’t explain.

So during New Year’s Day, I wake up around 11 and I figure out ”hey, I should eat brunch. Hopefully my family have already eaten anything and they will be too busy doing skiing”

Now I am extremely particular when it comes to breakfast. I usually rotate around the same 5-6 foods and would most of the time prefer to eat leftovers from the day before. And I open the fridge and realize that I should make pancakes. Especially since the milk would probably go bad because my grandparents doesn’t drink milk.

Well… guess who decided that this was the time to eat their brunch.

So as I begin cooking pancakes, still trying to recover from the holiday season. All my relatives that are left just waltz down to the kitchen. It was a pure slump but holy hell making pancakes didn’t become as fun anymore

You all know when a person says ”I enjoy a little bit of everything” or ”I listen to a little bit of everything” it is usually just social code for ”I wouldn’t mind to enjoy most of the things that is considered popular, normal, or basic by societies standards”

They don’t mean they enjoy everything and that’s the point. The answer is supposed to be vague. They don’t mean ”oh I mean speculative botany of Filipino plants” or ”I enjoy tajikan math metal”. It just means that they hypothetically can enjoy something that isn’t considered a resonable hobby/genre by societies standard. once again, it doesn’t mean they automatically enjoy hyper niche stuff. And that’s the point.
