i feel. like on a fundamental level. i do not understand x reader fic. i am not exactly opposed to it because let a thousand blossoms bloom etc. but like. i genuinely don’t get it. it seems like the exact opposite of how i engage with fiction. like the whole point is that i’m not in there. i don’t wanna be in there. if i’m in there it’s going to be very stressful.
@knightinpinkunderwear gets it.
*gathers all of the people in the world who write the number 7 with a little dash in the center of it so I can study them like little critters and find out what makes them do that*
There’s actually a lot of history regarding the development writing systems and why there are different visual representations of numerals,
but the short answer is: it’s regional, and you probably picked up how to make your numbers look based on your parents or your primary school teachersI do it out of spite because in grade school a kids detective story identified the culprit by saying NO American wrote their sevens with a line and I thought that was super flimsy evidence and it made me so mad I started putting a line through my sevens so the fictional detective would be wrong and then kept doing it for several decades since.
I do feel one can’t underestimate the “elementary school child taught themselves how to do this Out Of Spite” crowd

I don’t understand why people who cannot accept any moral grayness or complexity decide to join fandoms for the most emotionally complex stories and then try to shame everyone there who actually is able to understand the material.
when i was a teenager i used to catch myself thinking “i’m really glad i’m alive right now because of all the cool personal technologies that exist” and when i did i’d think it through and reckon that well, its not like teenagers in the 70s and 80s knew they didnt have ipods or facebook or whatever. they were also happy with the tech they had. and i’d reason that in the future there would be more fun technologies that i dont know i’m missing out on right now and the future will be an even cooler time to exist
anyway i was dead fucking wrong about that last part. i hate personal technologies now. i miss having an ipod that doesnt advertise shit to me and i miss when my htc wildfire didnt harass me 45 times a day to install an ai assistant and then install it anyway when i say no and i miss when the internet wasnt 5 websites all of which i have to log into and i miss when i didnt need an app to talk to my landlord. sorry past me you were actually right about 2009
why aren’t we in the bill and ted timeline? why are we not being excellent to each other and partying on? i want answers
I just wanted to say that sometimes the word you’re looking for is just ✨lying✨. You’re allowed to be upset that someone just plain old lied to you. You don’t have to call it gaslighting or manipulation or whatever the fuck, just call it lying and that’s enough. It was a ✨lie✨. Not everyone is an evil genius playing mind games, sometimes they’re an asshole lying to you.
I know this has been said so many times in so many words but it is never any less infuriating that we never seem to have basic social services money but we always have fucking war crime money
fucking evergreen post I guess
This is why I’ve started calling it “government investment” rather than “government spending” because it really makes it clear exactly what they feel is worth investing in
