It had been a long, relentless week of press junkets, red carpets, and back-to-back interviews for the Stranger Things season four press tour. Every day blurred into the next —early call times, bright studio lights, rehearsed answers, and the constant hum of cameras recording every blink and breath.

So when you finally found yourself sitting down for the last interview of the week, a deep sense of relief settled into your chest. One more conversation. One more round of questions. And then you could finally breathe.

You were perched on a long cream-colored couch with the rest of the cast, the familiar lineup feeling almost comforting now. To your left sat Finn — your boyfriend, your secret, your constant — his knee angled slightly toward yours like it always was when no one was looking too closely. To your right was Caleb, relaxed and smiling easily, his arm resting along the back of the couch behind you in a way that was entirely platonic, but would absolutely not be read that way by the internet.

Across from you, the interviewer shuffled her cards and smiled brightly, clearly energized despite the late hour.

“So,” she began, glancing down the couch, “we’ve talked a lot about the friendships this season, but I really want to dive into the relationships — specifically Stella and Lucas.”

At the sound of your character’s name paired with Caleb’s, you felt it immediately.

Not dramatically. Not noticeably. Anyone else watching would’ve missed it completely. But you knew him too well. You felt the shift like a pressure change in the air — the way his jaw tightened, the way his hand, resting loosely on his thigh, curled just slightly.

You resisted the urge to smile.

“Y/N and Caleb,” the interviewer continued, leaning forward, “Stella and Lucas have become such a fan favorite. Their dynamic is intense—starting with genuine dislike and slowly turning into something deeper, almost like they were head over heels in love. Do you think the two of you had a similar experience working together?”

It was a bold question. You saw Noah’s eyebrows lift. Gaten let out a barely contained snort. Millie’s eyes flicked toward Finn for a fraction of a second before she masked it with a polite smile.

And Finn—poor Finn—kept his eyes trained on the interviewer, posture perfect, expression neutral. If anyone were watching closely, they’d think he was unbothered.

You, however, could feel the tension radiating off him.

You took a breath before answering, voice calm and steady.

“I don’t think Caleb and I ever hated each other the way Stella and Lucas do at first,” you said with a soft laugh. “When we were younger, sure, there was playful bickering — arguing over lines, teasing each other between takes —but nothing that intense. And I can safely say that whatever Stella and Lucas have going on is… strictly fictional.”

A ripple of laughter moved through the group.

“And I can also speak for both of us when I say that Caleb and I are definitely not infatuated with each other,” you added, glancing briefly at him.

“Definitely not,” Caleb echoed, grinning. “We’re extremely platonic.”

Finn exhaled quietly through his nose, shoulders loosening just a fraction. You caught it out of the corner of your eye and had to bite back a smile.

But the interviewer wasn’t done.

“Fans love to blur the line between characters and actors,” she said. “What do you think about people shipping not only Stella and Lucas, but the two of you in real life? A lot of viewers say you can’t fake that kind of chemistry.”

This time, Finn couldn’t help it. His jaw clenched visibly, lips pressing into a thin line. He shifted on the couch, knee bouncing once before he forced it to stop.

You felt a sudden, overwhelming fondness for him.

Caleb answered first. “Y/N and I have known each other since we were kids. We grew up on set together, so we’re really comfortable with each other. That trust makes it easy to sell chemistry on screen.”

You nodded. “Exactly. We love each other, and we do have chemistry, but it’s not romantic. It’s more like… sibling energy mixed with best friends who’ve seen each other at their worst.”

The couch erupted into chatter, the moment diffused. But even as the conversation shifted, you could feel Finn watching you, not possessive in a way that felt heavy, but protective, restrained, barely contained.

The interviewer eventually turned her attention toward him.

“Finn,” she said, smiling knowingly, “what’s it like watching your friends’ characters fall in love on screen?”

You felt his knee brush yours as he adjusted, grounding himself.

“It’s cool,” he replied carefully. “I mean, we’ve all grown up together. Seeing everyone explore different dynamics, it’s kind of surreal, but also really exciting. Everyone’s worked hard, and it shows.”

Professional. Polite. Perfect.

You glanced at him, catching the faint flush at the tips of his ears.

The rest of the interview passed without incident — questions about favorite scenes, funny on-set moments, hopes for season five. But Finn never fully relaxed again. His arm hovered just a little closer to you than usual. His eyes lingered too long whenever you laughed at something Caleb said.

When the interviewer finally wrapped up and the cameras shut off, the tension dissolved almost instantly.

The cast stood, stretching and chatting as crew members began packing up equipment. Finn leaned in close, his voice low.

“You okay?” he asked.

You turned to him, lips quirking. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

He shrugged, trying—and failing—to look casual. “Just… a lot of questions.”

You hummed thoughtfully but said nothing, following the group toward the exit. It wasn’t until you were safely tucked away in a quiet hallway, away from cameras and microphones, that Finn finally let himself touch you.

His hand slid into yours, fingers lacing tightly, like he’d been holding his breath all interview.

You stopped walking.

Finn turned, confused. “What?”

You stepped closer, tilting your head. “You were jealous.”

He scoffed immediately. “I was not.”

“Finn,” you said gently, squeezing his hand, “you almost combusted on that couch.”

His ears turned pink. “Okay, maybe a little.”

You laughed, soft and affectionate. “It was kind of adorable.”

“Not adorable,” he muttered. “Just… annoying. I hate that I can’t say anything. Or do anything.”

You reached up, brushing your thumb along his jaw. “You don’t need to. I made it pretty clear.”

“I know,” he said, quieter now. “Still doesn’t mean I like hearing people talk about you like that.”

Your smile softened. “You know I’m yours, right?”

He looked at you then, really looked at you, all teasing gone. “Yeah,” he said. “I do.”

You leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek—nothing anyone could question, but enough to make him melt.

“Good,” you murmured. “Because you’re stuck with me.”

His grip tightened. “Promise?”

You grinned. “Promise.”
