gonna say something controversial but the way people criticize nurses compared to doctors is misogyny
I have many criticisms of the medical field so do not misconstrue this as me saying you can’t do that. but the disdain for nurses, a predominantly female position who are often disrespected, overworked, underpaid in many areas, and 25% report being physically assaulted compared to the way people talk about doctors, who many times are the ones causing the problems people complain about in the medical field (dismissing the symptoms of overweight people, medical misogyny/racism, etc) . obviously there are many nurses as well as doctors who should be criticized but there is a huge disparity in the general opinion of the two groups. the whole thing of “mean girls” becoming nurses makes this really apparent because there is much less conversation about the thousands of men who become doctors just to make money or who abuse their authority with patients or in the workplace . just my two cents

About what “Protect the youth” has become. Idk what it was like in other countries and I know that it very likely could have been stricter than it was in my country back then. But generally:
He was like “When I was 16, there were two kinds of adult content: Horror movies and explicitly depicted sexual content. The first made me have nightmares, the latter generally wasn’t of much interest to me because it wasn’t something I, as a 16 year old, could relate to. And other sexual content that was helpful and interesting WAS freely accessible. So whenever I saw an "18+” label somewhere, I just completely ignored that content because I knew it wouldn’t be interesting at all to me.
But NOW, what’s declared 18+ is even an excessive amount of swear words in streams! NOW, when I see an “18+” label, I don’t know if it’s horror movies that’ll give some 16 year olds nightmares, if it’s completely unrelatable porn, OR if it’s educational sex ed, a 20 year old talking about their really healthy relationship with their partner (that includes intimacy), education about consent in BDSM (which affects 16 year olds as well, there’s no age limit to curiosity), a live stream of wholesome musicians who happen to drink a couple of beers during kind of therapeutic talks, or simply people who aren’t puritans and say “fuck” a lot! An 18+ label isn’t worth anything anymore!“
And yeah… That’s just it.
People who talk about body changes during their (first!) puberty are even labelled adult content. Even though puberty very much happens BEFORE adulthood. It’s helpful content for minors. And it’s labelled "adult” to “protect the youth”.
I can clearly remember the moment I first realised my mother and I were living on completely different planes of existence. I was 7 years old and I came home from my school’s first track and field day having placed second or third in every event. the teachers had been making jokes all afternoon about how many times they had to call my name. my friends thought I was cool as shit. my enemies thought I was cool as shit too, come to think of it. I was proud as hell. so I get home with the entire front of my shirt covered in ribbons like I was a military dictator who’d awarded himself every medal, I walk into the kitchen and tell my mum all about my day, and she goes “oh, that must be disappointing not getting any firsts.” and I’m like no?? first of all the first place ribbons are red and I don’t like red. second of all look at me. there’s literally nowhere left on my body for accolades. I am fucking Jacked of All Trades. how could this possibly be a disappointment.
btw if youre young and scared of doing adult things without your parents ive learned that like 90% of the time you can just tell the doctors office or the dmv “haha sorry ive never done this without help before… can you show me how to do this?” the employee will not care. if that means anything to you

Okay so Ollie and I play this game where I take a handful of his kibble and sit down somewhere in the living room and throw them for him to chase, except lately he’s gotten REALLY good at smacking them clean out of the air
And this time I was throwing him kibble as usual and he reached up with both front paws at once AND CAUGHT IT
HE CAUGHT IT IN BETWEEN HIS LITTLE HANDS
STANDING UP
And I was ALREADY like “holy fuck little man” but he went to try to eat it and I guess he couldn’t figure out the angle? Like he didn’t want to drop the treat but he also couldn’t seem to get it into his mouth without biting himself
So I got to watch him- still balanced upright on his back legs and holding the kibble with his front paws- sort of confusedly step-shuffle backwards several feet while staring at it uncomprehending
And anyhow I was not able to get my phone out in time to take a picture but please stay tuned because I can’t not at least try to draw it
