this is so random but i love the way sulu always turns around to look at whoevers in charge when he gets nervous. its such a consistent thing its gotta be an intentional character choice either by the writers/directors or by george. they always cut to that angle looking at the viewscreen to show him doing it as well.

maybe he gets reassurance just from looking at the captain being all stoic and calm. maybe hes waiting for him to give a command. maybe he's just thinking "you seeing this shit??"

who knows. not me. but its just so. human. i love that every character in this show feels like a person with their own quirks and personalities.

THE BELL RIOTS

This is just to say the Bell Riots don't take place on August 30th. That's the day Sisko, Dax, and Bashir will have been being arrived* in San Francisco. The Riots will be September 1-3, 2024.

But it's a good time for us to remember that science fiction is not just a vehicle for predicting the future, but about questioning what path humanity is on now that leads to our future. oh hey man. yeah im okay, yeah im just thinking about how harry kim is canonically referred to as voyager's guardian angel. and how harry is responsible for saving the ship countless times. and how he kills himself and blows alternate versions of himself up and is sent through rifts in space, all to get back to voyager. and how he is maybe the most dedicated Starfleet office on that ship, and how, at times he's more committed to Starfleet than the Janeway and doesn't waiver in principle. And how when Janeway was feeling lonely and isolated, it was Harry who brought her in with the rest of the crew. And it was Harry who bonded with B'elanna and made her feel like she had a friend among Starfleet. And it was Harry who refused to let Tom be ostracized by everyone on the crew. And it was Harry who became Seven's first friend on the ship. how he consistently stays a force of optimism and beacon of hope even when everyone else has given up. it's always harry trying to help and stay positive and be there for everyone around him. Just. Yeah. Guardian angel.
