“what, trying to figure out which ones are yours?” robert can’t help but snicker, watching as chad examined his rough, deformed and scarred skin with such intensity, one might think he was disarming an explosive device. it was quite endearing deep down, with others taking one look at his battered body, and seeing something fragile, something that could break if he breathed funny.
“sorry to burst your bubble, but none of those big ones were done by your hands, chad.” with that, robert moves his own hand, grabbing ahold of the other’s and moving it across his skin, right to where a much smaller, albeit rougher patch of skin was. “this one is though, if that’s any consolation.” was he trying to rile him up on purpose? perhaps. but that’s just how they were, both fortunately and unfortunately.

“i’ll be completely honest. i don’t know as much as you think i do.” he grabs at his headset, lifting it from his ears and placing it aside on his desk. “yes, during my superhero days, i did a lot of investigation into the underground crime network in my free time, when i wasn’t just taking down rowdy teens who couldn’t keep their mouths shut,” aka hunting down any of shroud’s goons he could, but that was a story for another day. “but even then, i’ve only just come to know about this shimmer stuff. they must’ve hidden it pretty well until it’s completion.”
but with it becoming more and more frequent, that eerie purple hue oozing wherever the light touched, instead of staying in the city’s depths where it belonged? it’d be in robert’s good consciousness to be in the know instead of ignorant. “it seems to do everything. a better question to ask would be what isn’t shimmer capable of doing,” he sighs, leaning forward, hands locked between his knees.
“from what we know, it does seem to be some kind of enhancement. how it does that, i don’t know, but that just makes it all the more dangerous. but who knows what stunts it’s creator would pull if they found out we were sticking our noses where they don’t belong.” and the last thing robert wanted was to put the general public in danger due to their meddling. though with the direction things seemed to be headed, that may be unavoidable. “i’m probably spouting nonsense like a faucet but, yeah that’s all i’ve got unfortunately. the best we can do for now is just monitor this from a distance. if we dive in head first, who knows what’ll happen.”

YEAH, I’VE BEEN IN THE TRENCHES FOR MONTHS NOW MY FRIEND. sure, my posts appear once in a blue moon nowadays, but that’s besides the point!!
i got pulled into it when my mutuals were also getting dragged into dispatch’s depths, all when the first two episodes came out. we were all collectively losing our minds as the chapters released weekly, and we’re still trapped on this carnival ride, and we’re not getting off anytime soon.
Whatever you do do not ever let stanley pijnes and reigen arataka meet becsuse the economy will not survive whatever scam is cooked up in the process
YEAH DEAR GOD. it would be catastrophic, a cataclysmic event, they might even manage to demolish modern capitalism as we know it! who knows what they’ll do! just two sleazy men with a soft spot for their non-biological children. they really just get more and more alike the more i think about it… everyone, if you value your lives, your sanity, and your wallets, stay as far away from these two as humanly possible. you do NOT want to be caught in the same room as them. ever.
in all seriousness though, stan would outsmart and scam reigen first by a landslide. reigen’s only been in his business for a few years, and compared to stanley? who’s been running the mystery shack for like, thirty years?? yeah good luck, he probably knows every trick in the book. at first, they’d try to work together, probably try to scam each other, realise they’re going around in circles, get into an argument, and then eventually partner up again. the most ludicrous cycle, and i would empty my bank account for front row seats.
