i did cancel my BF6 standard preorder and refunded it straight after the Open Beta 2, Open Beta 1 and especially Closed Beta were better, so their path gone worse into FOMO and COD direction aka focusing on these braindead Gen Z and Gen Alpha gamer audience
as a veteran since BF1942 and who liked BFBC2 at most, this is my personal complaint about BF6 (CodField) since Beta 2:
not to mention CodField with 2 vehicles and 2m² maps
not to mention these proximity spawn locations to spawn kill or getting killed at spawn
not to mention this awkward repair and refilling stations (dispenser) for vehicles
not to mention this false weapon and vehicle handling and feeling
not to mention that awkward and heavy movement as an infantry
not to mention that sledge hammer slam, what is this kindergarden?
not to mention the really awful spotting mechanism, BF2042 spotting is awesome compared
not to mention all that FOMO crap you will never use and whatelse
not to mention that (LBO) leveraged buyout to totally NON-trustworthy "partners"
what FOMO you will ask ?? there is already heavy FOMO before the game is even released ...
BF2042 "Road to BF6" Battlepass, buffed the BF2042 population which is nice though
BF6 Phantom Edition pre-order for useless skins you will never use
BF6 Open Beta 1 and Open Beta 2 to unlock useless skins and whatelse
Twitch drops
and suspect netcode, you did not hit an enemy straight infront of you but they turned around and insta-snapped you with max 2 hits .. cheater 'and/or' bad netcode
i do not like this BF6 "concept" at all, so for now i am pretty well served with BF2042 ..
comparison with BF2042:
best movement,
best weapon handling,
best vehicle handling,
great spotting,
great maps,
better weapon customization and modification,
includes maps of nearly all BF eras,
includes vault weapons and vehicles,
includes ANY (classic) gamemodes and constant events,
includes hella bunch of easter eggs and secrets, ..
alone the first 5 points mentioned are very important ..
the complete opposite of what CodField6 "CURRENTLY" is ..
CodField6 is nothing more and nothing less than a money printer to save EA .. and the potential BF franchise .. and it is ok .. long story short
i had hopes for a BF7 title as CodField6 would infeed the development for it, but after this particular LBO and these mentioned issues all my hopes are gone until EA is in trustworthy hands again ..
however i need to mention as well as the developers are officially focusing on it:
the Portal feature in BF6 is a great enhancement .. as well as increased server tick rates. i hope BF2042 also receives these upgrades and a standalone Steam Client.
and this last paragraph is solely and already everything of the positives about BF6
the live action trailers are awesome, but does not represent gameplay xD
BF2042 might had been a nightmare on its launch back in 2021, for example as many had low FPS (20~42) on high-end rigs and some false promises (misleading ads). the bad reputation of BF2042 has never vanished since then ..
but today BF2042 is a very solid and fun BF title .. it has become a superior BF title over the years especially by some latest QoL/balance/content updates and regular events ..
And even if I wasn't completely fed up with all the "AAA" games being woke slop, BF6 is the most CoD-like BF ever.
Smaller, building-cramped, three-laned maps becoming the norm - no going back on this, the maps are made and it's done. I'm fine with a few (who doesn't love Metro for example) but almost all the maps being that way? No thanks.
Laser beam full autos are best - they claim this will be changed after launch, yeah right lmao. They didn't even change it in BFLabs, meanwhile they were busy nerfing the shotgun multiple times but never put out adjusted recoil patterns. Sniper rifles mysteriously have way more bullet drop than carbines. They're including a rangefinder gadget that eliminates the need to account for bullet drop at all. The gunplay is braindead trash.
Terrible gadget and class balance - Support is the only class with smokes, can heal AND resupply. Engineers will exist out of necessity to deal with vehicles. Recon is useless now, spotting is so rampant without their traits, they don't get spawn beacons anymore and open weapons just lets assault completely replace recon, assault is superior in every way outside of headshot kills being revivable. Everyone complained about open weapons yet it's still the default mode. Clearly DICE is appealing strictly to CoD players at this point.
Beyond those fundamental issues, there are dozens of other smaller ones like the guaranteed onslaught of out-of-place skins, absurd levels of female combatants, the nonstop use of the F word and excessive cringey voice lines, the grenades being class locked but weapons aren't, I could go on.
BF6 is going to be the most massive bait and switch in modern gaming. But so many consoomer bugmen will lie and pretend it's the best thing ever to avoid accountability for being hoodwinked YET AGAIN.
The maps from BF6's full release are no where near as small as the hyperbole you and others have used to describe them. The ratio of Large/medium/small maps is similar to the launch lineup from BF3. A majority of maps in the series up to this point have suffered from areas that have no use and never influence match flow, like the areas in firestorm that got cut out for BF6.
Here's part of the near verbatim reply I gave you last time
"I agree the spawns were a tossup. Which this series has always struggled with, even in 2042.
The weapon and vehicle soundscape accompanied by the gunplay and combat has improved with 6. I agree the vehicle handling was rough in the beta which was a 4 month old build. I have faith it can be fixed. 2042 was a massive step down from previous titles, the gunplay and soundscape often never felt in sync. Nor did the vehicles have good handling. Often times, vehicles like jets could lose momentum and fail to pull up, as if the ground was a giant magnet. The sandbox also saw the worst extremes for vehicle-infantry counter-play. Themal smoke + APS vs Lis +underbarrel AP + c5, made for an unfun experience.
The repair and ammo stations for vehicles in BF6 are a carry over from BFV. One of the good parts from it's attrition system. It keeps vehicle players reigned in and should reduce the frequency of selfish play.
The soldier movement in BFBC2 is slower than BF6 by 2m/s.
Likening the sledgehammer to kindergarten??? You type so impulsively.
3d spotting was in the series since 2142, don't pretend it was only invented for BF6. It's always been a pain point for the series. Currently there is no news of it leaving. We can only hope the lighting is tweaked enough by launch to reduce it's use. We do know auto spotting got a massive nerf to it's range/cone and the spot's time.
A reminder on that "FOMO Crap" as you'd put it, has existed since 2142 as well. BFBC2 had its dog-tag system which was further iterated on in BF3, 4, and 1. Collectibles like the phantom program and other profile milestones have been what made the series feel unique to me. Never did the profile customization, pre 2042, feel out of place in the series. The "fomo crap" wasn't a thing until 2042 with it's limited timed events. 2042 was also the game which codified the player profiles and customization, by removing dog-tags, with the edgy black and red tier systems. Additionally introducing the gaudy pop-culture skins, like cyborg Boris and MiB Crawford. None of the skins in BF6 come close to how silly the operator skins are."
2042 isn't likely going to get any of the features of BF6 portal. This game is going to be put on life support for the foreseeable future.
To answer OP, I might come back to play 2042 in the future on a whim, like I have with other entries, but I'm moving on to BF6.
imagine this one being infested with cheater
rip battlefield.
