Hey man, I'm having exactly the same problem with El Capitan. Black screen, w/ pinwheel.

Tried it a second time and I got a bunch of purple code on a black screen.

I never got it to work in OSX. I finally got around to dual booting the lap.
It works on WIndows environment if you have it available to you.

I have the same problem with macOS Sierra, on a MacBook Pro.

Same. Running Sierra, MacBook Pro, black screen with pinwheel.

It works on my Macbook Pro but sometimes, I experienced black screen with pinwheel and if I close it and re-open again, it works but there will be a bunch of codes on the left screen. Even though the game usually works for me, sometimes the game drains my battery despite I'm using power adapter. And most of the time, there's a problem of quiting the game. When I quit the game, the application still running and I have to force to quit it because the application is unresponding.

Well, that's just great. Same issue on High Sierra - blank screen and pinwheel of death.

EDIT: Getting a missing localisation error on the DRM-free version of the game. Since I bought from Humble I have both Steam and DRM-free.

EDIT AGAIN: Okay, this is weird. After the DRM-free version failed to load. I tried the Steam version again and it works. Will see if it actually plays properly.
