This is a mega-blog full of exciting announcements, bug fixes, and our thinking about premium skins. But first, a message straight from our cold, robot hearts:

We’ve never been more excited about the future of Danger Zone! Thank you for supporting the Ride or Die update. New updates are in development for next year, including new multiplayer modes, a 10th Anniversary celebration, and community competitions! You’ve shown up for us, again and again over the past nine years, and we’re so grateful.

The Ride or Die update launched Danger Zone into the future, but there were some bumps in the road. Here’s what's in the latest update:

12 Free New Weapon Skins! A dozen new ways to obliterate your opponents! Many people pointed out that there were no weapon models you could equip without Clonebux. A bad vibe, now corrected with 12 glorious weapons. Free for all players!

Removed the 6000 Clonebux purchase option. Many people saw it and felt the large amount was a dubious ask. We agreed and removed it!

Bug Fixes

• Added a picture of the full skin when you’re buying it, to clarify you’re getting the whole skin. (Not just the head, body or legs.)

• No longer possible to kick or jetpack and then get on a Rip Rider, keeping you in a kicking stance!

• Fixed a variety of crashes.

• Fixed customization UI having text overlapping where it shouldn’t and incorrect icons.

We’re still working on hunting down the rest of the stragglers. Let us know if you see any more!

There have been some questions about how to get the new premium skins. 

The way you get the new skins is with Clonebux, our currency you purchase in-game. After buying Clonebux in a pack, you can spend them to style your Human with Bot and Weapon skins! You cannot earn Clonebux in game, but keep a look out for community competitions where you can win them.

For a while now, we have faced a difficult choice. The LBS lobbies have been sparsely populated. Sales aren’t what they used to be. Do we leave Danger Zone as finished and move on to other games? Or do we find a way to continue breathing life into it?

With the Ride or Die update, we chose the latter!

Thanks to your support, we’re committing to future free updates for Danger Zone! If things continue going the way they have been this week, we should be able to keep Danger Zone alive and kick-botting for a long time. The Ride or Die update was just the start of the free content we’re now planning to make.

Our goal with premium cosmetics is to create an optional way for our biggest fans to support the game, fueling ongoing updates, and widening the ways in which people can express themselves (by looking like delightful mecha-horses).

Understandably, not everybody loved this change. We have all played microtransaction fueled games that SUCK. Our vision was to add this in a way that does NOT SUCK, and in fact, is quite fun and awesome.

Our Rules for Premium Cosmetics:

• Clonebux will always be optional and only for cosmetics. No pay to win! We hate that, too!

• Core updates to Danger Zone will always be free.

• No irritating upsell patterns: BUY THIS STARTER PACK!!!!! LIMITED TIME ONLY. No.

• Skins will be fairly priced without the need to buy more than what you want.

• Clonebux will be used to support continued development of Danger Zone and more Doborog games.

Thanks to the success of this update, we can now look ahead to 2026. Here’s what we’re building for next year…

New Multiplayer Game Modes! We’ll be developing new ways to play Clone Drone with your friends… and meet new friends to destroy! Join us live on Twitch as we build them next year.

10th Anniversary Update! To celebrate a decade of human versus robot combat, we’re planning a big new update! Will we finally see the long anticipated release of this sawblade dog[clonedroneinthedangerzone.com]?

Endless Mode Expansion! There are enemies that only exist in challenges and not in Endless Mode. We’re planning a refresh of Endless Mode with new levels and enemies like Zombie-Bots and Rip Riders.

New Community Competitions! Part of what we love about this community is how creative you all are! Level editors, artists and memesters will all have their time to shine with prizes for winners.

More Free Cosmetics! Along with premium skins, we’ll also release more free ones next year.

Today we ride into battle for our huge new update. Our biggest content update in far too long. 

The Ride or Die Update adds a sawblade unicycle called the Rip Rider and an extensive system for customizing your Human! Here’s a closer look at what we’re wheeling out.

Got a need for speed? The Rip Rider is the fastest you’ve ever been able to move in Clone Drone. You’ll be across the arena before your enemies realise you’ve cut them in half! 

Practice the art of wheeled warfare on the Rip Rider in the new Challenge, both single player and co-op. Then take on your Ride or Dies in Last Bot Standing, where you’ll slice robots apart like a knife through glazed ham.

Tip: You can jump on the Rip Rider! Leap and land on your opponents to slice them in two.

Beginning with this update, your Human body is now more customizable than ever before!

Previously, you could only pick from full robot skins you had unlocked through achievements and Challenges. Now, in the new customization screen, you can select the Head, Body and Legs independently!

Check out the wild new rider robot skins that have galloped, flown, and blasted into the arena! Not only do you have access to the many skins already in the game, but we’ve created 10 new premium skins to mix-and-match with, including Knight Bot, Mech Pilot Bot, and Horse Bot.

You can purchase them with Clonebux, our new currency that you can buy and it is completely optional! New Challenges or gameplay will always be free and buying Clonebux supports our studio as we make more free updates to the game! You'll look awesome too!

As for accessories, you can customize even further with premium weapon skins! Give your sword, bow, hammer, and spear a new look, so you can kill in style. Give your new Cowboy Bot a Cactus Sword or equip your Biker Bot with a Stop Sign Hammer.

And you can change the color on every single part: heads, bodies, legs, and weapons! So that’s 37 total robot skins, made up of 111 individual parts, with 23 new weapon skins and 18 colors for each. That’s THOUSANDS of possible combinations for the ultimate Clone Drone fashion! Who among you is good enough at math to figure out the exact number of possible Humans?

We love hearing what you think! Thank you for all of your feedback, which has made this update the best it can be! We’re dedicated to keeping Clone Drone in the Danger Zone updated in the future. (At least until we’re abducted and our brains are uploaded into gladiator robot shells.)

Currently, premium skins can only be purchased on Steam. Consoles will get this option in the near future. The new customization tools for existing skins are available on all platforms!

Steam Xbox and PlayStation are the first platforms to see this new update! Nintendo Switch will get it soon.

Hello Humans! We've been working on updates to Clone Drone, ever since its Early Access release and WE'RE STILL GOING! We're excited to be working on the next update for Clone Drone in the Danger Zone. It will include new things to ride, and new ways to customise your Human! For this year's Steam Awards we'd love to be nominated for the Labor of Love award. We're going to continue improving and adding content to the Danger Zone next year too because you're all so dedicated and have kept the game going all this time!

Hello Humans,

We’re sorry to tell you some bad news. As lots of you have pointed out to us, most players from Russia can’t connect to our multiplayer modes. Unfortunately this is because Roskomnadzor has decided to restrict access to specific services and our online game servers are included.

All public and private multiplayer modes can’t be connected to, including:

• Endless Co-Op

• Last Bot Standing

• All Co-Op Challenges

• Private Duels

Right now we can’t fix this problem because it’s not the game that has broken, it’s an issue with general Russian internet service. We have heard that some community members have been able to connect to multiplayer through VPN services but with severely high ping. If you know of any work arounds that let you play multiplayer, let us and the rest of the Russian community know!

We hope this changes in the future so you can enjoy the game but we don’t know when the restrictions will be lifted.

Hello humans!

We just released a tiny hotfix that fixes two issues:

• Twitch Mode login - A while back the little link to log in to twitch mode broke. The new flow does not go via any dodgy links, and should be much easier to use. Let us know if you experience any issues with it!

• Unity vulnerability - Unity released an update for a security vulnerability that affected every game ever built in it, including this one! We have now updated to the latest version, and the only security vulnerability left in the game should be that the garbage room forcefield sometimes lets humans get through it.

Please enjoy this more secure experience!

Oh, but while you're here, did you know that we are working on a new big update???

Look forward to an overhaul of Character Customization and the ability to ride around on a sawblade unicycle! Incredible!
