Order of Epistus
Official Name: Order of Epistus
Other Name(s): 'Seekers'

------------

Type: Guild/Order
Ruler: High Seeker Aldren
Heir Apparent: N/A.

------------

Primary Race: Human
Resident Race(s): Numerous. Notable, however, are Gnomes, Dwarves, and High Elves.

------------

Location: Numerous citadels are positioned throughout the Empire, with few outside of its boundaries. The 'capital' of the Order is within Bol due to the numerous cultures passing through. In terms of scale, the largest three could be considered small cities with the walls of a fortress, while the more common ones are essentially guild halls.

History: The Order of Epistos is a foundation created in 383 I.E. primarily for the pursuit of knowledge in all forms. It has grown from a small club of intellectuals into a full-fledged order with members ranging from craftsmen to magi, and a militant division created solely to defend any of the Order's holdings as well as to conduct forays into otherwise hostile territory in search of new texts or artifacts that are deemed valuable. The leader of this order is selected from a group of three individuals, whom all are leaders in and of themselves of one of the Order's three divisions. The Seekers represent the militant arm of the Order, and the only one which has a standing force at all times. Generally, people associate the Seekers with the order itself, simply due to the nature of their work. The Artisans are the common craftsmen, of both magical and non-magical origin. Finally, the Custodians represent the record-keepers and diplomats to any outside organizations. They have become somewhat of a guild in recent times, however, as their legitimacy has grown. Instead of going into a common guild, many youths instead decide to learn from the Order, viewed as an alternative with experts in just about any profession or field, and swords to defend them while they practice their craft. Still, the mission statement remains the same, and members of the Order continue to contribute to new discoveries across Laurentia.

Additional Info: The three main citadels are dedicated to different fields of research. The Citadel of Bol, largest of them all, is dedicated to the pursuit of 'common' sciences. To make crafts as sophisticated as the race known as the Warforged, as well as to produce weapons such as the newly-invented handheld artillery devices. The Citadel of Mythros, located in (Somewhere on the southern border of the Empire), is dedicated to research of an arcane origin. Finally, the Citadel of Tiersfall, located(Somewhere in the East) is dedicated to research of nature in general. Sophisticated animal husbandry takes place here to breed the finest of war animals of numerous species, and to study how to civilize some of the more wild creatures of the world.

(I'll expand this by a lot once it gets accepted, but should do for now.)
