2024 look back and best releases
With 2024 behind us, it's time to look back at the amazing games released while also looking forward to new ones (StS 2, *cough, cough*).

It's also been a good year for our curator page - it not grew bigger than ever before, but we also reviewed 45 games, which is almost a new review every week!

Honestly, 2024 was a good year for card games. We saw many big hits such as Balatro, as well as many other great games that have flown under the hood.

So we made our top 5 picks of 2024 below.

But first, honorable mentions

Honorable mentions
While 2024 was kind to card gamers, we weren't able to review them all. Below are some highly regarded games released in 2024 that left an inerasable mark on the genre.

Our picks

With the biggest hits out of the way, our top 5 games that we reviewed.

Number 5
Dawnmaker is a cozy deck and city builder that's easy to learn but not at the expense of depth. There are some nice building and card combos available.

Number 4
HeistGiest doesn't dabble in roguelike and offers a deckbulding powered story with a cyberpunk theme. It has decent card play, but what really makes them game shine were the cool story moments, amazing voice acting and banging music.

Number 3
Perhaps it's my niche taste surfacing, but I crave for more deckbuilders where cards are bought from a marketplace. While it had a few rough edges on launch, the developer has given it constant care and pump of new content. Lots of powerful card combos to explore.

Number 2
An excellent digital adaptation of an one of kind board game. If we were to judge only by the hours invested in multiplayer, Dune Imperium would have been the top spot (700+ :monstertraininferno:), but seeing as we are a single player focused curator it takes the humble 2nd spot as the base game AI provides enough of a challenge even for more experienced players.

Number 1
Chrono Ark is truly one of the best roguelike deckbuilders released this year. Cool, unique story? Check. Innovative mechanics? Check. Interesting cast of characters? Check.
Offering a challenge to even experienced card gamers? Double check.

if you haven't checked it out, well, it's not too late to revise your New Year's resolution.
