JUNE 12th will mark the day of our next Duke Nukem Forever tournament where we will also be celebrating the 11th Anniversary of the king's less-than-triumphant return to the lime light in his last main-line title that we all still love to play to this day, eleven years later! What better way to honor the king than by "Duking-it-out" with a "railguns only" event, demonstrating skill and composure in a tense 4-man free-for-all among the community? I was debating whether this would be a 1v1 or a FFA event, but ultimately stuck with what the community wanted, and that choice was based on the runner-up votes in the last polls held where "3v3" and "Shotguns only" had officially won, so get ready to reap what you sowed, and be sure to read all of the rules below so you're prepared to kick ass and chew bubblegum the day of! Let's Rock!

(1) The mode is "4-player Dukematch," meaning it's a 4-player free-for-all with the top two players advancing into the next round. You will have ten minutes to reach 20 kills with either a random map chosen by the host, or a map chosen by the community via StarNukem's Twitch[www.twitch.tv] live on the day of the event. Points will be awarded to players after each round, giving three points to 1st place, two points to 2nd, one to 3rd and none for 4th. After the second round, the top two players with the most points will advance, even if the top two players are tied. In the event of a three-way tie, those three individuals will compete in a first-to-10 round to determine who advances. In the less-than-likely event of a tie for 2nd place, the two players will have their kills/deaths totaled from both rounds and whoever has the most kills, moves on. If kills are tied, it will go by “least amount of deaths.” If it’s still a tie after that, both players will roll a “d20” in chat by typing “/roll 20” and whoever rolls the higher number will advance. It’s not as eventful as a 1v1 match, but if both players have tied by kills and deaths, that’s the fairest way we can decide without holding up the tournament. Matches will play out until the top two players of semi finals are determined, in which case Grand finals will be a best 3/5 in a 1v1 railguns only duel! You think you have what it takes to be the railgun champion? Good luck!

(2) Cheating is, and always will be, STRICTLY PROHIBITED!! Any players caught cheating or using any type of modification will be BANNED from the current event and any future events as well. I don't expect there to be cheaters, but I am very adamant about keeping them out regardless. THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING!!

(3) The only glitch that could possibly be an issue is the infamous Double Kill Glitch that can be caused by stepping on a shrunken player and killing them before the stomp animation completes, resulting in a "double kill." This glitch is much more difficult when you only have the railgun as your means of killing, and with that said, the double kill glitch WILL be allowed in this event and only because of the following rule. Please read on to know why this glitch will be allowed. Also the out-of-map spot on Sausage Factory is NOT ALLOWED so don't go thinking you can escape maps now. ;)

(4) A common issue that happens in "Railguns only" is when people shrink themselves intentionally on a shrink pad in order to hit their shots more easily, since the railgun is still a 1-shot kill despite being a tiny Duke and it can be quite unfair at times. With that said, a vote was held to determine whether the community wanted this rule to be allowed or banned and after a solid few weeks of back-and-forth, the community leaned in favor of BANNING the glitch, so this technique will NOT be allowed in the Railguns Only event and any player caught using this technique will be given ONE warning because accidents can happen, but if it’s clearly intentional or the tech is used after an official warning, the match will play on, but the offending player will incur no points for that match, regardless of placement. This will not affect the points given to specific ranks.
(I.E. If the offending player achieves first place, they’ll receive no points and second place will still get two points, third gets one still, and fourth still gets none.)

(5) It should go without saying, but there will be NO TEAMING allowed for this event. That means anything that would be perceived as "teaming up with someone" is not allowed AT ALL in this "free-for-all" event including, but not limited to: Clearly avoiding conflict with a player, boosting, being a distraction for someone else, etc. Players who are found to be “teaming” will be disqualified from the tournament. It's a FREE-FOR-ALL event and I expect everyone to treat it as such. Play the game and play it fair!

We're not going to be mad in the slightest. In fact, we're going to be very happy that you let us know! Many of our tournaments have suffered from this in the past and I'd like to prevent that as much as possible in the future. I don't want to have people be forced to sign up to Challonge (The site where our tournament brackets are held) and mark themselves as "present" there before the tourney, but I may have to if this problem keeps arising.
