Hey Jimmy!

I am having issues getting my off-brand 360 controller or my XBox One controller to work on either of my Ubuntu machines through Steam. Put simply, Ubuntu notes that the controllers exist when I do 'lsusb' and allows me to configure et cetera when I do 'jstest-gtk'. Additionally, when I launch Steam Big Picture Mode, the controller works flawlessly and detects as xinput. However, once I actually launch a game (any game, including both Metro games, which I had previously played through with these two exact same controller before 15.10) the controllers do not work. Oddly enough, if I run the game on one laptop and stream to the other one through Steam, the controller input does work fine (a bit slow however due to streaming mode). Has anyone encountered an issue like this? Thanks.

Hi everyone, i'm in need of help. I currently have ubuntu 13.10, recently installed, and downloaded the Nvidia drivers (i think the current one for my gpu is 331, i'll confirm later) but steam does not allow me to play l4d2 (i only downloaded that one) first telling me that there was an error with the openGL, and after searching and changing the libc.conf to set the path for the x32 nvidia drievers, now it just doesnt say anything, and dont open anything. Can anyone help me? Please!
Thanks.

Not only does Steam for Linux exist, but I am planning to build a Linux-only Steam gaming PC as soon as I have the funds for hardware. It's the only way, as I love PC gaming and hate using Windoze.

@Toucheeeffect http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2110841 you might want to update your video card, or look around for some updated drivers. Like they say, Google is your best friend!

Hi everybody!(c)Dr.Nick Riviera

@Kras, Steam is working on a native Ubuntu client and you will soon see games like L4D 2 running natively in Ubuntu. In fact, Torchlight is a part of the Humble Indie Bundle for Linux, so companies are recognizing that there is a user base (and money) found in the *nix world.
Kras Aug 8, 2012 @ 6:12am
Not every game runs on Ubuntu? True. But this is capitalism and money is power, so I'll spend on games that are Ubuntu-friendly. I hate Steam but it works fine on my computer and it makes installing games easy under Ubuntu so maybe I'll change my attitude towards Steam. Let's call it: unhappy because of user unfriendliness.

Can I ask a question? Well if any of you have problems with garry's mod and made it run like windows then can you please help me because the grapics are ok but the sound and HL2RP inventory button doesn't work. Thanks!
NickNackGus Oct 15, 2011 @ 5:18pm
@Foxconn I just wish that was visible from the 10.10 update manager. It still says 11.04 is available, and I'd have normally upgraded within a week or so.
@ everyone If you haven't done so already, you might want to join "We want Linux client! (stm-lin)" as well. A unified effort will yield faster results, and since Ubuntu is a form of Linux, it would bring immediate support to Ubuntu Users if there was a unified Linux client. They have 3,613 members already!
