Very fun deckbuilder. Where most deckbuilders will focus on the actual deckbuilding process, and the actual gameplay is more of a formality, Starvaders real strength is how many decisions you make during the actual combat encounters. It feels like you have so many options, there's always some way to make it through an encounter, you just need to figure out how.

Also, of the 9 or so characters, each one plays completely differently, almost like learning a completely different game each time.

OST is also great, definitely play with sound on

The gameplay mechanics are by far the best of any 2d fighter currently being played.
Vorpal cycle encourages thoughtful, defensive, gameplay rather than mindless offence you see in other modern 2d fighters.

Character designs, the sprite art, and the soundtrack are all very well done.

Final Fantasy IX is not the best Final Fantasy. However, it's still pretty darn good. The story takes place in a more familiar high fantasy settting, as opposed to the more sci-fi feel of 7 and 8 (and 6 to a VERY slight sense). The story, while at some times feeling kinda predictable in the early half of the game, really throws some wildcards at you later on.

The combat system in the game is pretty much the standard of final fantasy: you have four characters that attack when their ATB fills, with the classic job roles such as thief/black mage/white mage/blue mage/dragoon/etc. (though there is no playable red mage much to my disappointment) While grinding for levels is something you can do, for the most part a character's strength is determined by their gear and skills. One of the main aspect of this game is equipping appropriate skills/gear for various scenarios, and sometimes you will have to decide between equipping gear that is worse stat-wise but gives an elemental resistance or a status immunity skill.

As for negatives about this game, my biggest complaint is the characters. About half of the playable characters are interesting and well developed, but the other half are either static and predictable, uninteresting, or just annoying. The characters that are developed are done very well, but I feel the pacing of the game didn't allow for development for others.

The pacing felt very odd in this game. At some times, the story would seem to move extremely slowly, while at other times it just threw information at you, without seeming to strike a good balance. Specifically the beginning of the game seemed to drag on forever, while the final arc of the game seemed to only take a few hours.

The port of this game is very well done. I ran into no crashes or wierd controls, and the game was kind enough to feature a gamespeed toggle (as well as other cheats such as infinite health or no encounters).

Overall, this game is definately worth playing if you like the JRPG genre, and I give it a 7/10

Hollow Knight is a metroidvania action platformer, where everyone is a bug.

This is simply put one of the greatest games I have ever played. The exploration is very rewarding, with many secrets to find throughout, and the combat is difficult, but fair. The game can be beaten without going through any of the too challenging areas (dream bosses/trial of fools), but if you are going for 100%, expect a very tough challenge. The combat in the game is very fair, mostly because of how fluid the movement is in the game. The story, which you slowly learn as you explore, can feel empty if you skip past some areas that aren't required for any%, but the "True" ending route does have a very nice story. The soundtrack to this game is very good at conveying the atmosphere of each area and fight, but I feel like all indie games have a great soundtrack haha.

As far as negatives go, I wish the game told you more information, ie. there's no way in game to see how much damage different weapons/spells do, so you don't know how important that new upgrade is. Also, some of the optional bosses can be a bit frustrating to fight, and only really become beatable with perfect movement. Also, the entirety of deepnest.

Also the absolute radiance is not fair, please nerf.

Overall, I give this game a 9/10
