I started off my Monster Hunter journey in World, so I'm by no means a die-hard veteran or anything, but I do want to indicate that despite my collection of 3 MH's (4 if we're counting Stories 2), it is absolutely a game series I enjoy to the fullest, because it scratches all the right bits in my brain. So to have to leave a negative review physically hurts me.

By no means do I have a supercomputer, but I imagine a NVIDIA 3070 Ti would be sufficient enough to have a semi-enjoyable experience at least. It is not. The amount of PS1-style texture issues I had with textures loading in, literal sole polygon maps on monsters and NPC's alike, and being unable to run this game on a medium-high hybrid without it physically blue screening my computer definitely hurts the user experience, and I know I'm not the only one with issues like these, since other reviews have computers beefier than my own.

For seconds, why on *earth* did we deviate from World multiplayer? I shouldn't have to join a lobby, then a link party, and *then* potentially an environment link just to play the game with my friends. So many hoops for such a simple process. And don't get me started on how Capcom patted down the Multiplayer-Story process *so well* in Rise (Cutscene which can be skipped by a unanimous vote from all members of the party), and then we deviated right back to Worlds multiplayer issue of having to wait for someone to get to the cutscene / story bit *before* the invites occur. Granted, a relatively minor nitpick and by no means a game changer, but really? We couldn't have just taken the simplicity of World's multiplayer with the ease of Rise's story-friendly multiplayer take?

Don't get me wrong; If the first issue was not withstanding, this would be the easiest recommendation I'd ever make. They did a lot good in this game, from the ranged changes to Spirit 3 Longsword and everything in between! They did a *superb* job with the combat, and it's easily my favorite. I will still continue to play regardless, because I enjoy the game when it does work! I just want it to be better for everyone performance wise.

Until the game gets a ton of patches or if it goes on sale for very, very low? I cannot recommend. I will be *more* than happy to change my review once the game gets better, because I genuinely do want the best for this game, it deserves it, but in the state it is right now, you would be better off playing World if you wanted a good Monster Hunter. (It is surprising how well World stood the test of time, at least I think!)

Oh, and since I know I'm going to get them (I've seen the other reviews, you absolute die-hard "can do no wrong" fans); Thank you in advance for the clown reacts, your steam points will go nicely on the pile for when I want to change my profile. :)

Edit for TU 1- The optimization updates are *noticable*, but do not ultimately help the game as much as I imagine they should. I am going to give it another update before looking at the review again. Grand hub is fun albiet buggy, and the canteen animation is chefs kiss!

Edit for TU 2- Unchanged, and unfortunately I have had to downgrade to playing on the lowest graphic settings, since running it on my low-end medium hybrid was conflicting with discord way too often, which is not something I can afford when I want to attempt to enjoy this game with friends, so, as of current, less likely to recommend. The XIV crossover is fun, though!

As it turns out, bullying the company into backpedaling on a horrific decision is a rare victory. But if no other game achieves that victory, then let it be Helldivers 2. Praise be to Arrowhead, and I would say thank you Sony for realizing it, but that idea never should have left the building to beginwith, so I'll call it even.

I'd like to say Final Shape did well enough, but I guess Bungie doesn't think so. Pete Parsons laid off 220 MORE people (17% of the company), and apparently what he's spending his money on is 2.4 MILLION on vehicles in 2022, and 500k in 2023.

Pete Parsons, you are a living icon of how NOT to manage a company. You have taken a game and ran into into the ground all for the sake of your greed and your avarice. Inviting employees to see your cars too before curbing them? Despicable. If there is ANYONE at your company that *can* fire you, they *need* too. Thank you for burying another game (and my trust and faith in this studio) in the landfill, I hope your cars will be a cold comfort when you go bankrupt. ♥♥♥♥ you.
