This game is absolutely adorable! A single play-through only takes about half an hour, and is a delightful way to spend the time. Will definitely play through again to see a different ending.

Quick review of Abzu, including strengths and weaknesses, and whether or not I think it's worth buying.

Absolutely AWFUL. Pretty, but empty. The controls are bad, the puzzles are bad, the character movement is bad... the *only* redeeming quality is the artwork, and honestly, if that's what you're into, buy a painting.

Video of me trying to play the game:

Just finished the main mission - have not completed extra missions yet, but really looking forward to it. Enjoying this game MUCH more than I expected to. Thank you for making it!

Early Access Review
Writing Early Access review at 482.4 hours played and counting...

The game is great. If you like survival games (like Rust), you'll love it. If you like hardcore MMOs with full loot drop at death, you'll probably love it, too. There's always a lot to do, and although it can be repetative your first few days while you get established, the excitement of everything and every one trying to kill you constantly makes it entertaining.

It seems like a lot of the negative reviews are by people who didn't play very long, got smashed by some one more established, and got a bad taste for the game because of it.

Some suggestions for new players:

1. The game isn't meant to be played alone. If you're trying to go solo, you're going to have a hard time. You don't get enough points for all the items, so by the time you hit level cap you won't have enough left to get some of the cool stuff at the end. Also, on PvP servers, you simply can't keep up with the resource acquisition of a big tribe if you're on your own. Recovering your base after a raid is much less painfull when you can divy up the resource gathering.

2. Choose your tribe carefully. When you join a tribe, everything you own becomes owned by the tribe - your dinos, your buildings, everything. When you leave the tribe (or are kicked out), the tribe retains ownership and you start over with nothing.

3. Choose your PvP server carefully. If you can't deal with griefers, select an Unofficial server with anti-griefing rules. There are many servers to choose from, but some of the things you may want to consider include:
- Building protection - Some PvP servers don't allow players to destroy buildings they don't own. Some allow it, but only during certain time windows (usually prime-time when the owner is more likely to be on).
- Rules against Content blocking - Some servers have rules against blocking content (like artifact caves or obelisks). If you're interested in end-game, an admin that keeps this content available to every one is sometimes nice to have. When major spawns (like caves) are blocked, it can be hard to get strong enough fast enough to remove obstacles.
- Increased taming rate - On some PvP servers, people will wipe out your dinos when you're offline. They have no intention of raiding you, they're just being obnoxious. Increased taming rates make replacing them less of an ordeal, so you can get back to actually playing the game.
