I really wanted to like this game, but it feels like it doesn't want to be a game. I don't mind the grounded setting, I don't need magic or dragons to have fun.
I think there's a fine line between what can be considered immersion and what can just become an annoyance, even small things like NPCs not wanting to talk to you at night seem fine at first, but then you go to sleep, gotta find a bed, oh that bed is owned, find another one, sleep, oh now you're hungry, deal with that, and before you know it you've had to do a bunch of pre-requisite steps just to hand in a quest. Immersive gameplay shouldn't feel like a chore.

The combat is already a known quantity in terms of being rated poorly, and it really does feel horrible on mouse+KB, I actually started to feel like I was making progress, then I'd rock up to a random bandit camp or whatever and get completely wrecked. The scaling feels a bit all over the place in that regard. "oh you're a peasant you're not meant to be good with a sword" okay, that's great, but immersion becoming a chore rears its ugly head again.

Games provide escapism, and sometimes you just want to feel like the hero, if you're used to more traditional western RPGs in that regard, this game probably isn't for you.
