It's tetris with amazingly trippy visuals, strobe lights, particle effects, slow motion and great music. The singleplayer alone is worth the price, but the multiplayer modes (Score Attack, Co-op, 3v1 boss battles, Classic Mode) give it infinite replayability. The only thing that would make it even better would be a function to upload your own music like in Beat Hazard or The Polynomial.

Originating from IIchan, Everlasting Summer manages to avoid inauthenticity and pretentiousness that is inherent in image board culture to deliver a visual novel that is truly heartfelt and contains a tone and spirit unlike any other VN currently released. The plot and themes of the game are relatable to anybody, regardless of age or ethnic background, even if one’s experience is the mirror image or exact opposite of the events within the game. In a genius move, the division of two realities allows anybody to experience the VN while also engaging in a perspective that differs from their own. Both existential dramedy and meta commentary on life and entertainment in the post-internet age, Everlasting Summer avoids the cynicism and post-post-post-modern irony found in similar releases of its kind. While it lacks the biting and irreverent satire of a certain Krautchan VN, it more than eclipses the former with beautiful visuals, an effective multi-genre soundtrack and a genuine sincerity that, combined with the tantalizingly gripping writing style, coalesces into an unforgettable experience that unequivocally stands as the best visual novel released in years. A flawless English translation means that this hidden gem can be experienced by many, many more people. Play this as soon as you can; time is precious, as Everlasting Summer eventually makes very clear, and you will certainly not waste or regret any time spent with this.
