So good, so very good. Short, sweet, emotional, strong characters, brilliant story, beautiful game. Would recommend to anyone from this planet to the moon and beyond.

Yo, I'm Whit.

So, this is one game I missed out on during the last winter sale but I finally got a deal again!!! I have to admit, I was a bit nervous paying for a game I knew wasn't going to last very long but once I sat down and played it I was thrilled.

So for starters, this isn't your average run and jump game. This game is all about timing, quick thinking and having a visual of where you want to go. Thankfully the game assists with the visual through it's bright colors in a mostly bland world of roof-tops and you're not just limited to one path to reach your destination which definitely makes the player feel in control.

Now, I played the game on normal (I plan to run the hard difficulty later) and I gotta say the intensity picks up dramatically as you progress. The tutorial at the beginning is by far a neccessity if you want to finish this game without a "RAGE QUIT" as the controls are simple but execution is more complicated. I died alot... usually because of half-second too early jumps or from the shoddy combat/disarm maneuvers.

Combat in this game is probably its weaker side. It's pretty basic and you will probably never use it (until the last two levels where I felt it was neccessary) but it also angered me at times. Disarming a foe, while fun, is a total pain in the butt, ESPECIALLY against SWAT guys with machine guns and shotguns and stuff like that. I would do my slide-kick combo (I personally preferred the wallrun-kick combo just to watch them spin around xD) and run around to disarm them while they bent over in pain and it only worked like twice and I still ended up getting killed.

The story is pretty awesome even if it is short and the level design as I mentioned earlier was totally awesome. With the addition of people shooting at you (with half decent aim might I add) and even special enemies that free run just as well as you do plus they have tazers or something like that. Anyways there were three consecutive levels I enjoyed so much that I had to go pee three times during those three levels. I personally blame the music for that somewhat embarrassing fact.

Which leads to the music and sound. Definitely gets your heart pounding during chase scenes hearing Faith's sharp breaths with every stride her feet made. Every surface had a different sound. The music just made it all the better mixed in with all the police chatter definitely put me right in the center of the action.

Whit's Breakdown:
Story: 4/5 (Short but sweet)
Combat: 2/5 (Not really vital to this games life)
Sound+Music: 5/5 (IT MADE ME PEE 3 TIMES IN 3 LEVELS MAN!!!!)
Difficulty: 4/5 (I'll replay on hard and see if it changes)
Replay Value: 4/5 (There are nifty little easter eggs in the form of drop bags hidden in every level. There's 30 to collect I only found 11.... I kind of wasn't paying attention during the intense chases xD)

In the end, Mirror's Edge gets 4 hidden messages from "The Janitor" out of 5
NOW BUY IT BRO!!!!

Completely expanding and perfecting everything not included in the original Portal. GLaDoS remains a strong character but Wheatley steals the show by being a character that develops more than any other video game character I can think of. Graphics-amazing, sound-excellent, writing-hilarious totally fun filled all the way through, plus tons of achievements for one to nab.

Though rather a short game, Portal packs in great graphics with a smooth storyline plus achievements to bring the replay factor way up. TOTALLY WORTH THE BUY
