Great game. It's quite a challenge for me to play scary games and while this one is one of the scariest I have played, it was still so great that I just had to finish it. Even though I could often only play it 10 minutes at a time. If however unlike me you want to keep at least some of your sanity then I recommend you play the BFG Edition where you can actually use the flashlight while aiming with a gun. It would have made a hell of a difference (pun intended). It also includes the expansion pack Resurrection of Evil as well as the first two Doom games with all of their expansion packs.

A great game, however, I recommend playing the newer version, i.e. the Definitive Edition. It includes all of the DLC from this version and adds several quality-of-life improvements, game modes and a complete graphical overhaul. There is also less lag in online matches.
