It's like doing Minecraft redstone machinery, but on crack. Really addicting.

Helldivers 2 is an amazing game that does the GaaS-model right. A diamond in the rough, a peak game in the middle of mid and low tier trash live service game desert.

And then Sony, the publisher screwed it all up and forces their crappy Playstation Network on everyone. You're forced to make an account if ya don't have one, potentially giving sensitive personal information to a Network that has been leaked like the bloody Titanic. Oh and Sony changed their Terms & Conditions or whatever from "PSN in optional" to "PSN is mandatory in some games"

I'm not going to agree to these new terms.

Edit: As of May 6th, 2024, Playstation has backpedaled on the PSN change. I'm satisfied and thus will change this review for what it really is: a good game.

I don't know if I should laugh in pure mania, cry like a little girl or both at the same time but one thing is very certain: Overkill Starbreeze really wants your money, hand it over. Exclusivity be damned. You pre-ordered the game to get exclusive items and brag about it? Too bad! Now everyone can get them if they want it.

Get this if you want to feel buyer's remorse.

Early Access Review
Honestly, it's a really good game for meeting all kinds of people with all the wacky avatars you can express yourself.
EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) just drags this game down and doesn't even help with the problem they're trying to solve.

not too fond of this tbh

This game is like my local drug dealer's local goodies. I know it's bad for me, but I always come back for more of that sweet, sweet semi-ranged, melee focused gameplay of slaying Skaven rats and Chaos Rotbloods. It just feels good.

RAID: World War II was a half-alive fetus born from PAYDAY 2's success and died almost instantly after the unfinished, buggy mess of a launch back in September 2017. It managed to cling onto life for about a half a year (February '18) with 100+ peak players, if not even that.[steamcharts.com]

I went back and played this game again recently and... it was fine, I guess. The gunplay feels fantastic and the playable characters made me do a funny "ha-ha" at times. That's all the praise I can really give to this game. The AI (both enemies and teammate bots alike), the leveling system and stealth get a special mention of how ungodly awful these things are.

Now, enjoying the game is very much a subjective thing. The game is very much like Payday: The Heist and Payday 2 to a lesser extent, that being: "How many enemies are there on my screen and how long have I exposed myself to them/are they aiming at me?" If the answer is "plenty/few seconds/yes", you're either dead or hurt pretty bad. But don't worry, enemies drop resources (mostly ammo, but they do drop health and seldom grenades) and there should be chests containing these resources as well, so it's all well and good. Or in layman's terms: cover-peek/shoot-cover/reload-repeat. If you're out in the open on the two hardest difficulties, lmao good luck

So anyway, do you like that kind of gameplay? Well, I can't answer that for ya. But I do know one thing you're not gonna like and it's the steaming pile of scrap that is the Diesel Engine 2.0 this game runs on and any Payday player should get PTSD from hearing those words. They decided to use this almost decade and a half old, originally car-racing engine to make this game since they were most familiar with it. Sure, whatever. It'll have the same problems Payday has, if not more.

I could go on but I'm running out of writing juice, but if you're wondering about getting this game, get it only during a sale. This game is definitely not worth the full price. I'm giving this game a nostalgia filled pity recommend.

Early Access Review
For an early access game, it's functional. Though it has some issues, the pros outweigh the cons here.

This is a game for those who have friends and want to play Russian Roulette in the virtual space.
Also, you can sexually harass them.

I got this DLC for free when it first came out. I had fun playing through it and all that jazz, but my actual issue here is with the price. Like, what in the actual ♥♥♥♥? 15€ for what? 15€ for a bite-sized story of what happens after the Telltale game?

No, just no. For a comparison, those Campaign DLCs cost 10€/each, right? It's somewhat reasonable, since they add quite a bit of content but pricey, nevertheless. This one? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 15€.

Ever since BL3 was announced to be Epic Store exclusive, my blood has been boiling hot. This one added the last ingredient: salt.

In conclusion, yes, I would recommend this if it was free. It was fun to play through. With a price tag? Nah, ♥♥♥♥ no. Get it when it's on sale. If it ever goes on one.

Even after over 2000 hours, it's still fun. Especially with friends. It may have bad apples, but don't forget about the good apples. These 4, 5 or so years has had its fair share of bad and rough moments (I'm looking at you, Crimefest '15), but in the end, I'm happy with this.

Pick up the Ultimate Edition, maybe purchase the H3H3 pack if you're interested, grab a few friends, a can of beverage and make those helmets fly.

Team Fortress 2 is as I am writing this, a 12 year-old game. And it still has many daily players. Still going strong.

Easy to pick up, semi-hard to master, just like The Smash Bros. games.

3/6/2024 edit: it's so over
