This game is bad.
Like really bad.

Delivery gameplay is boring as hell. Go here, pickup ♥♥♥♥, go there. Rince and repeat.
The game tries to spice things up by way of "BT"s. Invisible monsters you have to "stealth your way through", so to speak.

The problem with the BTs and the stealth gameplay is, that it is just tedious and annoying.
You either have to go on foot and drag on longer runs for half an eternity.
OR you can grab a vehicle and try to be speed up the bowing walking parts, but as soon as you encounter any BTs, its "get off your bike", "grenade the BitchThings to death", return to bike.
Rince and repeat.

That's all the gameplay variety you get.
Not to mention the horrible, unskippable "cutscenes" every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time you encounter BTs, every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time you get caught by them and every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ other time something incredibly mundane happens.

Did I mention there is no quicksave?

I don't know if the story is eny good. It suppesedly is... Whatever..
So far, it hasn't cought me, but I guess I'll never find out.

Overhyped.
Graphics are not really good, full of artifacts (NO I'm not using Upscaling or Framegen!), completely oversharpened and forced blurry Temporal AA. Blurry Textures and waaay to much contrast.
The game also doesn't use UE5s virtual-shadow maps but instead uses it's own so shadows look atroucious as well, expect if you turn on full RT, which only looks good on very-high - But even a 4090 struggles to maintain 60fps on 1440p then.
Laughable technically.

Also, everyone that say this is like GoW or any other action game and not a souls-like can go stick your you know what into you know where.
I hate souls-likes with a passion as I'm old and don't have the time to grind out a single boss for hours.
On top of that, the game lacks any visual clarity, so tells are difficult to even see.

Yet another annoying grindfest.
Maybe the story is worth it, I don't know.

Finally picked this up on sale after initially being put off by the bad reviews.

Man do I regret not playing this sooner.

TL;DR: It feels like an oldschool action-RPG with some modern quality of life improvements with exceptionally satisfying combat.

That oldschool feel may be the reason for bad reviews, I think.
The game doesnt try to give you endless possibilities and a 50000 hour playtime.
I for one really like that for a change.

The devs also solely focused on one key aspect of the game. The exceptionally well done and very satisfying combat. But more on that later.

The story and voice acting is kinda meh.
The world is filled with plenty of the same old open world tropes, but nothing as bad as yet another Ubisoft game.
The world minibosses are worth a visit, though.

The combat in this game took me some time to get used to, but boy is it ever fun!
It just feels so incredibly good to chip away at the individual body-parts of a huge mob and then finally shatter it all to little bits and pieces.
It's not as in depth as a DMC or anything, not as unforgiving and laborious as a Soulslike.
But it doesn't lack depth, thanks to unique ideas and 1000 upgrade combinations.

Aditionally it looks pretty and the movement mechanics can be quite fun with some unlocks, too.

I think we have the recipe for a good game here.
However, this one still needs to cook.

Huge world, decent graphics, endless creative possibilities when building your base.

In the current form however, I don't think it's engaging enough.
- The crafting system is annoying due to the small inventory and it not considering material you have stored in your base.
Backpacks and "Magic-Chests" make it better but unlock too late in the game to not starve off engangement.
- Farming the required materials is also a bit of a grind.
- Building feels janky.
- Combat feels pretty lackluster and basic.
- Too many typical repetitive open-world tropes: A Tower here, a base to clear there
- Survival-mechanics don't tug me enough to even care that they exist.

Also SteamDeck / SteamController users and people with disabilities beware:
No simultaneos gamepad/mouse input supported!
