My position on the matter is unequivocal and objective: generative artificial intelligence has no place in the field of music or art. Art is produced through inaccuracy and bias shaped by lived experience, which artificial intelligence cannot replicate. As Mike Dean states, “It will never be able to capture the spirit of what makes those creations [music] unquestionably great.”

The ability to create art can convey emotions in unorthodox ways. Music generated by artificial intelligence sounds superficial; music created by generative AI is an amalgamation of works created by humanity. The “mistakes” made by humans during recording are what confer songs their allure; you can hear the passion behind each note, but generative AI strips that away.
