I don't understand why this game is so highly rated.

Combat is QTE-based... sort of. Some attacks have QTE events for you to press. Defensive dodge/parry though? No QTE events for those. Just guesswork as to when you are supposed to push the buttons based on watching animations -- and the window to activate said defensives differs with every mob type and skill. Is this fun for some players? Must be, since the game is so overhyped.

The story is meh, just doesn't draw me in. Maybe I need to spend more than 2 hours playing the game, but it just doesn't draw me in enough to overcome my immense frustration with the game's combat system enough to care.

The soundtrack? It's just okay. You can find it on youtube -- 8 hours of tracks that sound very similar. Only the combat music is what I'd even begin to call "catchy", and even then only mildly so.

The visuals? When the entire world is weird, nothing stands out anymore. It's just an overwhelming mess of... whatever it's supposed to be.

I guess I just don't get this game.

Truly exceptional game. Great story, outstanding character development, and the player's choices and actions matter in the end. The only downside is having to choose between Mandy and Courtney! It's torture!

Early Access Review
Instructions unclear. Started a meth business IRL. Now I'm best friends with the cartel, and the DEA are after me. 10/10, would cook again.

Utterly brilliant. And made by 2 devs? How nuts.

Really good 4X game. Very polished at release, which is rare these days. The depth and replayability is... extensive.

I don't get why it's so popular. The combat is all about repeating the same combos over and over with a mix of quick-time events. All the students are 1-dimensional and happy-go-lucky. All the teachers are on a heavy dose of happy juice. The protagonist is all happy goody-two-shoes, nothing like what a typical brooding 17 year old would be/act. 10 year old? Sure. But 17? Please. Oh and the game itself is full of extremely simple collection quests of different varieties they call "puzzles". Where is the appeal here? I fail to see it.

Addictive. Best played in multiplayer, with all DLCs active, and without AI companies (as they expand extremely quickly and in all unlocked regions at once, while players have to focus on one region at a time).

It's good. Successful skill checks like lockpicking and trap disarming giving XP to the character that has the skill is a nice touch. Variety of weapon and secondary skills give solid combinations, like Toaster Repair having a nice boost to fire damage. I just wish the combat menu didn't have sub-menu buttons, if that makes sense. In XCOM, overwatch is a 1 button click. In Wasteland 3, it's 2. Same goes with using skills and items. Still, questionable UI decisions aside, it's a good game with an engaging story and a solid replay factor.

No crops, no livestock, but 10 hearts with every eligible female before the end of the first autumn.

10/10, would plow the whole village again.
