Snore.

What a wasted demo. Just set up some intrigue and that was it. No horror, just a eating and driving sim. Snore.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a great proof of concept. However, it's lack of modern features and frustrating elements make it seem dull in comparison with other rougelike titles.

The clear miss of any communication options, such as voice chat or even a functional ping system really make the game feel quite dated. It was fine in Elden Ring, as it was a single player experience. But it's unacceptable here. There's also no crossplay with consoles, or even other store fronts which seems like a no brainer for a game that is purely PvE and based on teamplay.

As a multiplayer title that simply shines when you have a three man squad with voice communication (discord in this example), it's beyond fun. It's a quick, fun-filled romp fest of fromsofts best and brightest boss designs. Made even better with a Squad of friends.

But if you plan on solo-queuing. You may find it's more frustrating than fun.

We have given a lot of leeway when it comes to modern features from fromsoft as the games they develop are usually excellent enough to warrant a pass, but here it's on full display and it's not pretty. I cannot recommend the game at this price-point, nor can I recommend this to anyone wanting to solo-queue.

It is simply lacking too many modern features expected of a multiplayer title. For a AAA studio, it's frankly telling.

Ahh Oblivion, it has been some time since I last saw you.
I am beyond glad you are still a janky masterpiece.
(Also I feel like calling this game a remaster is a little wrong, it's more of a remake)

"Hey! No licking!"

Reviewing this game is hard because I really do not want to spoil a single thing, it feels like something you absolutely need to play blind.

Split Fiction is beyond special. I played this with my partner and this game is just a love letter to video games as well as two of the most popular fiction genres to exist. Saying this game is great feels like it's not enough.

I never really had a guess as to where the game was heading, the sheer number of games genres that come into focus is borderline insane. One moment it's a puzzle-platformer, the next it's an action adventure beat-em-up. And it just gets crazier and crazier from there. The sheer level of creativity in the level design had me stop multiple times and just smile. I'd play through entire sections grinning like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ child.

And the story, god the story.
It starts off really simplistic and didn't really drag me in all that much but as the game progressed, I was far more into the gameplay.

But as the characters became more fleshed out, IT WAS HEARTWRENCHING. I feel like a lot of people will see themselves in either Mio or Zoe. They feel real. One is introverted and sort of closed off, shut down and sees the world sort of gloomy, the other is extroverted and outgoing but deep and carries a lot of burdens. They feel like polar-opposites and they shouldn't be able to work together, but that's kinda why it works.

If this game isn't a contender for GOTY 2025, I will riot.
Anyways, stop reading. Play this game.

Man, what is there to say about this game that hasn't already been said?

Is it incredible? Yes.
Does it make you question the other games you've ever played? Also yes.
Is it deserving of the 2022 game of the year? Absolutely.

Seriously, just seriously. Play this game. Especially if you're into the souls genre anyways. Personally this was my first dive into a "souls-game" and boy-oh-boy. This game is literal drugs, but ya know, much cheaper. It's hard but rewarding and with so many different ways to play, it doesn't feel quite as oppressive as other Souls games.

10/10 World design.
10/10 Character design
10/10 Progression
10/10 Boss encounters
8/10 Story (wait, did he just say that? Yes. It's not a bad story, quite the opposite. However, understanding the story took a wikipedia dive before things started clicking because this game DOES not spell it out for you, you really need to pay attention to get it. This is Elden Rings only fault in an otherwise amazing game, but for your ordinary player, they might miss out)

Overall, amazing game. Would love to put my foolish ambitions to rest one more time.

Normally I don't write reviews for individual chapters simply because they usually do not warrant a review.

But boy, oh, boy.

This chapter is straight cheeks. The killer is probably the most buggy killer I have ever played, and I was a twins main for a moment there.

The main issue I seem to have with playing Hound-master is simply the damn dogs AI.
Seriously BHVR this is an issue with almost every single killer you release that has any form of individual power that acts on its own. This dog is beyond inconsistent. It will break and stay in place for upwards of 15 seconds before your power *STARTS* to cool down and reset, it will grab survivors and IMMEDIATELY break the contact before I even get there and there isn't any other survivor helping them out of the dogs grasp. You are essentially locked out of your power on multiple occasions. Hope you like being an M1 killer.

I have also noticed that during the "search" command the dog just won't scan survivors in the radius. It is fundamentally broken at the design level.

Not to mention this is a considerably weaker killer than previous entries, it is almost a course correct considering how powerful and full-kitted the last few have been. Normally, I would welcome weaker killers with open arms, but with how broken this killer is, it is borderline unplayable.

I am beyond tired of the PTB somehow being better than the actual release, like how tf does that even happen? I encountered BARELY any of these issues during the test build but now you are charging $10 for it, its somehow broken?

TDLR - M1 killer for days lad

As much as I love this game, there is sort of a critical issue that won't ever be resolved and people should be aware of this before purchasing.

Since Saints Row 4 had its update to allow Epic and Steam to crossplay together, the steam version has been experiencing a game-breaking bug that prevents you from being able to play this "updated" version. This affects almost every new player. The game will claim to have a "missing executable" and fail to launch.
Now, there is a work-around but it is not without its flaws.

The workaround is as simple as as going into the properties of the game, selecting the Beta Participation bar and clicking on legacy version. This will allow the game to skip past the "missing executable" error that happens on the newer "updated version" and launch the game in its older legacy edition without crossplay enabled. Easy enough fix for a ten year old game.

Except there is one major issue. If you have bought the re-elected edition of this game on steam, there is NO way for you to play the DLCs in the Legacy version of Saints Row 4. Meaning, you are effectively locked out of DLCs you should have with this edition of the game. This wouldn't be so bad, if there was actually a way to play the standard version, but like I said, there is a game-breaking bug that prevents you from being able to play that version.

If you were lucky enough to have purchased the DLCs before the Re-Elected Edition became the only version you can buy/play, this won't affect you as steam manages to recognise you have the DLCs installed.

But if you were unlucky enough to have only bought saints row 4 after it became the re-elected edition, you have no way to buy these DLCs as they are no longer available to purchase on steam (because they are supposedly included in the only edition available to purchase with no additional purchase, however they DO not appear as DLC in the DLC section, which prevents the Legacy version of the game from verifiying the purchase).

I was achievement hunting for 100% and have been soft-locked out of continuing the game as I will never be able to play the DLCs thanks to this bug and as the studio no longer exists, you cannot expect any sort of fix for this ever.

I wanted to make people aware of this before making a purchase, if you are okay with not being able to play the DLCs, go for it.

TLDR - Games standard version does not work, there is a workaround. Workaround prevents DLCs from working if you bought the Re-Elected Edition.

Early Access Review
Lethal company is one of those indie games that comes around maybe once or twice a year, the one you tell all of your friends to grab because its that much fun. I don't think I have loved a game this much since maybe phasmaphobia.

I adore this game, playing it with friends throughout the night is insanely fun, getting jump scared and murdered while you friends laugh their way out of the facility is something I doubt I will get tired of. The concept is extremely simple but works so well in the way you play the game, you're basically just a group of employees entering abandoned facilities looking for scrap to sell back to the company in order to meet a quota that increases as the game goes on. Fail to meet this quota and well, you're fired.

The facility itself is a core pillar of the game, requiring you to enter eerie and dense abandoned facilities in search of valuable scrap. Although its not entirely abandoned. I think the horror aspect works well here, especially with mods
I also really love how the maps are always RANDOMLY generated, meaning that you can still get lost if you are not careful.

10/10 would not meet quota again

1000 hours later and I can safely say, the only people that play this game either hate themselves or have crippling mental health problems. 10/10 would get camped and tunnelled by a wesker again
