I can't recommend this game yet, I think it's very cool but there are clear graphic import issues, you can't move with arrow keys while in Formation Mode, let alone map any of your keyboard keys. The hurtbox on the ship is unfortunately quite big, but I will have to just deal with that.

Also, the DLC they're offering should just be in the game from the start, I have never played a Shmup worth more than $20 and this game doesn't come very close to being an exception. Maybe it's because of Platinum Legacy but, who knows. And yeah, this game has the same """problems""" that every Platinum game has: Long Levels, Kind of Messy Graphics, and Tons of Mechanics. I don't say "problems" seriously because I knew this was a game made by Platinum and they just tend to be Extra AF so it's very hard to hate them because you know the effort is there. Those traits are common within every Platinum game I've played. That being said , the Messy Graphics thing is definitely the most harmful to a Shmup / Danmaku experience. And no, things being "all over the place" and "not knowing what's going on" do not have to go together -- CAVE games, mainly Dodonpachi, pull this off very well and have clear concise colors and you can tell what's a hazard and what's not. The graphics issue in this game might be due to some nostalgia or whatever but I don't think it's working -- making things "look bad on purpose" isn't how dedicating stuff to the past works, and if it is, then I'm fine with the future.

EDIT: Just realized they literally put the entire Story part of the game (dialogue, actual characters, stakes) behind a $10 DLC.......................why would you do this....................................................................................

Not my thing, but I think this is huge influence for fighting games everywhere and important.

Edit: Please wait to get this game on sale. After playing the other Puyo games available on Steam for hundreds of hours, I cannot say with earnesty that this game is an improvement worth $30. I won't even get into the stuff that they didn't actually fix at all, so me calling this game an improvement is just me being very nice, since I appreciate Puyo still being alive in any format.

If this is your first ever puyo tetris game you get, then maybe it is worth it, but even visually this game is not worthy overhaul of the PPT 1.

laughing , this is clearly the most effort Psikyo ever put into a bullet hell. Yeah it's pretty neat hehehe.

1000000% you should play for yourself :- ). Best bullet patterns to me, and it is a very quick and nice game, and replayable.
