Gameplay consists of travelling effectively from one cut scene to another with some action/combat segments inbetween.

Despite what appears to be a large, vibrant map at first glance, there is little opportunity due to the linearity of the storyline or incentive/reward to explore and become immersed as with previous games within the franchise. Combat mechanics are very basic, with little meaningful challenge or originality/new ideas.

Unfortunately, despite the game relying heavily on the story, it is predictable to the point of triviality and filled with the usual tropes. The ending is apparent from almost the first hour of the game, which makes the journey feel almost a chore.

I picked up this title on a whim after hearing good things about it, and being quite intrigued by the Steam store page.

To start I wll say that the game has a great atmosphere and is aesthetically pleasing, with a great soundtrack to go alongside it; however, that is where my praise stops... The game is incredibly short and can be completed in approximate two and a half hours, three at best; its length is artificially extended by relying upon ARG content. The game possesses an extremely anti-climatic and utterly disappointing ending.

My advice would be avoiding wasting your money on this title.

I played and thoroughly enjoyed the original Homefront, so I was eagerly anticipating the release of Homefront: The Revolution. In total I've committed about 13 hours to it, and I have completed both the campaign and most of the strikepoints. The length of the game is far shorter than many have claimed, but it still is longer than average for most AAA titles. Whilst I enjoyed what I played, I can't recommend the game until the AI and optimisation are fixed, as these two are critical in holding it back.

A few things worth noting.

Graphics - Although it may be poorly optimised, the game is quite aesthetically pleasing. The environment has quite a lot of detail, and is fairly immersive for an open world game.
AI - is broken and needs a full overhaul. The AI suffers from pathfinding issues, and is generally dumb in combat often charging in wrecklessly.
Optimisation - Througout my playthrough I had my settings on Ultra (aside from AA) and was playing at a resolution of 2560x1440. Unfortunately the game lacks an SLi profile (attempting to use Nvidia Inspector to force it creates a broad array of graphical issues).
Forgettable generic characters
