I like Borderlands and I also like roguelikes such as Binding of Isaac with a lot of items and possible build combinations. I got this game due to the good reviews and after playing the demo, which I liked.

Unfortunately, this game got really repetitive for me really fast. There is a bit of branching in between the first and last level (like 3 branches), but the start and end path are always the same. Getting items and improvements is a tedious grind, worsened by the fact that all levels contain the same kind of enemies (just stronger) with basically the same attack patterns. The level design is also almost always the same, so it is extremely repetitive.

Playing with a friend on short sessions, I would recommend this game. But playing alone with the aim of getting 100% is really tedious. The devs also confirmed that development won't continue, so I do not expect to see any kind of improvement to it.

The reason why I like binding of isaac more than this, is because every run is very different (routes, enemies, bosses, items you find, playable characters...). Here, every run is almost the same. Despite having the same concept of perks, weapon types, improvements and a few different playable classes, the difference between runs is almost nonexistant: You are always going to find the same enemies, bosses and go through the same routes (once you unlocked the "crystals" on the alternate path).

Take this as a neutral score more than as a negative. If you like to grind, can buy it with a big discount and have a friend to play with, get it. It's not a bad game, just find it hard to recommend it.

Seriously? You take out Marchenko and thats literally the end? No going after the Illuminati, No going after Janus...The game was FINALLY starting to get somewhat interesting and then it just drops the ball and ends WAY too soon. You literally make no real impact. Aug rights are still just as bad as before. HRA still up in the air... Literally NOTHING happens the ENTIRE game. You go and stop one terror attack and thats it. Thanks Square Enix I think I'm finally done with your crap.

Like everyone else said, this is a lesser fun L4D clone.

-The scenario graphics are bland: All environments look the same, level designers / crafters were lazy as ♥♥♥♥, just a few textures and assets such as your run of the mill barrel / crate. Start to Crate time: 10 seconds http://www.oldmanmurray.com/features/39.html
Same problem as in the previous game, but this time just on higher definition.

-My main complain is combat. It's terrible. Maneurability feels slow and the melee is very innacurate. There is also a single attack pattern, either click mouse left or hold it. No variations based on movement direction, counterattacks after a block, or dash moves after a dodge.

-Sound mixing is lacking, even if properly configured.

-Most enemies look the same, barely any variation.

I think the twitch thing is a good idea that could be also implemented in another games. But it can be trolled easily to mess with the streamer.

On overall I do not recommend this game. Left 4 Dead 2 is the same playstyle and offers way more bang for less buck.

Early Access Review
"What bad could this game do to me?"

Some months later, I started a university master in industrial automation. No, this is not a joke.

This game is superb, and here is why.

-Not because the horror factor: It's not as high as the Amnesia. There aren't even random "scares". This is more on the original Bioshock level, and not because they share an underwater scenario.

-Not because scenario design: The game is absolutely linear. More freedom or multiple paths would've made this game amazing. Still I liked the designs of the facility.

This game is great because the message it transmits about the ethos of humanity, both to each individual and as a whole. I seriously recomend you listen to EVERY optional audio log and read every computer terminal you find: Some give only contextual information or hints, but others contain major plot information.

The ending is very good, including a post credits bonus scene. It can be guessed out past mid-game, but I think that makes it even better.

Do yourself a favor and play this. If you like the original Ghost In the Shell, Ergo Proxy, the film Ex Machina or the Deus Ex games, you'll greatly enjoy this game.

This is the game with the BEST VALUE I have ever played, period (and I've played a lot of games, new and old).

Not only the game is good by itself (Lot of content and replay options, fun, deep, lot of hidden stuff), when Steam Sales are up you can get it by less than 3€.

The creator of the game keeps updating it five years after release, all updates for free (no DLC and BS free. Patches 1.2 and 1.3 were MASSIVE in terms of new content and mechanics added to the game and they didn't cost a penny to the player base).

-If you want a great sandbox game, get this game.
-If you want more gaming time for less money, get this game.
-If you like being creative, get this game.
-If you like discovering hidden stuff, like NPCs, items and bosses, get this game.
-If you want to reward honest and ethical developers who do not milk players their hard earned money by adding OP paid items via DLC or lock updates behind a paywall (Ori and State Of Decay, I'm looking at you), get this game even if you are not going to play it.
-Just get the game.

If I have to say something I do not like of the game, I will say that the User Interface is quite bad. The inventory is just regular, but the crafting interface is a nightmare (and there is A LOT of crafting in this game).
Why? Because you don't have access to filters or tabs / categories. All available recipes are shown on a long top-down list. To make things worse you don't have recipees. You can only see the options if you have the required ingredients in your inventory, which means you will need to have the wiki open at all times (because the crafting list is huge and there are many recursive recipes: to craft item A you need item B, that needs item C before.... and so on)

Riddled with bugs that cause crashes and black screens on startup (check the forums).

Will edit this review as soon as I'm able to play if the bugs get fixed
