resleri is my first entry into the atelier series and i'm already sold on the franchise after just a week of playing! keep in mind this is a gacha game at its core, so expect daily logins and chance-based rolling for new characters. i expect that the low rating on this game is due to people who don't like that an atelier gacha exists, or have never played a gacha game before.

pros:
- story is heartwarming and full of likeable and very expressive characters, especially the main duo. it's also a fully voiced story with top-tier JP actors
- ensemble cast that combines characters from all previous atelier games together and allows for interactions between characters from separate worlds.
- top-tier graphics for a gacha game. you often get side scrolling 2d environments for games designed specifically for mobile, but the Steam release definitely doesn't feel like an afterthought. cutscenes and animations are also top-notch
- combat system is robust and thought-provoking. you can easily auto-build teams and auto-battle until 5000 power, but after that you'll need to start putting thought into team-building and every action
- generous pity system - you can unlock any character with medals even after their debut banner ends, and medals never expire until spent
- high SSR character rate (4%)
- responsive development team - JP is 4 months ahead, and the developers made sure to implement many quality of life changes in the initial global release

cons:
- stamina cap is too low (9-10 hrs) this has since been updated to about 19 hours
- menu navigation is laggy and has slow transitions (2-5 seconds)
- must watch in-game advertisements on phone to supplement what is already a relatively low gacha currency income. it's low enough that you cannot guarantee the first limited banner character even as a day 1 player
- character rate-up percentages are abysmal (0.5%). expect to need to pity for any characters you want even if you save up beforehand this is a bit better now, you can choose a character to rate-up for a 1% pull rate

even with these cons this is a very enjoyable game that just needs a few quality-of-life patches to shine. i can see myself playing this for the foreseeable future and definitely recommend resleri to anyone who's looking for a moe slice-of-life style gacha game to play. i had already been eyeing the atelier series for sometime and the loveable characters in this game have sold me on getting sophie and ryza 1 next steam sale!

a cute and short tech demo valve created to introduce users to the steam deck's controls but can be played with any controller (the gyroscope function even works with ps4 controllers!). highly recommended to anyone who enjoys anything about the portal universe!

yakuza 0 is an excellent stepping stone into the yakuza series and gives a ton of background into kiryu and majima. it's got an incredible amount of side stories and minigames and most of them are as engrossing as the main story, if not even more!

highly recommend picking this up if you're looking for a game with some simple brawling mechanics as well as some absolutely hilarious writing and quality voice acting. the rest of the series is either being remastered or ported to PC over the next few years as well!

for a game that released in 2020, it's a little rough and looks like a source 1 mod, but it's a great way to play a modernized half-life 1 and experience the pre-combine story. i can't compare it to the original as i've never played it, but i really enjoyed it (especially the xen levels) and would recommend picking it up for $10 or less!

this game takes the best of supergiant's previous games and mashes them all into a replayable rogue-lite experience. beautiful art, catchy music, dynamic characters + voice acting, and satisfying gameplay combined with a ridiculous amount of content will have you playing the hell out of this game and coming back to it again and again!

this is the best game i've played in 2020. if you enjoy rogue-likes or bastion/transistor/pyre, or even have a slight interest in greek mythology, you won't regret picking this up!

an absolutely incredible traditional rogue-like game that many seem to have completely glanced over. if you're looking for an in-depth, highly customize-able and humorous experience, i highly recommend dusting this off of your backlog and giving it a try!

this game takes what was enjoyable about the first game and expands upon it through uniquely themed rooms and even allows you to interact with different parts of the room (so the game's name makes more sense!)

a little eerie, but highly recommended for anyone who likes the idea of puzzle boxes with all sorts of secrets hidden in and around them :)
