I recommend playing this remake of a now classic action horror game. As it mentions in the description of the store page Dead Space remake stays faithful to the original game whilst making big improvements in all areas.

I have put down 24 hours of gameplay in a very short span of time going through the base game and new game plus to get over 90% of the achievements and I did not get bored doing it.

The atmosphere this game places you inside is very tense and has you checking every nook and cranny for items, ammunition and Necromorphs. There is a constant sense of dread and disgust as you explore your way through a derelict planet cracker and slowly uncover what caused the USG Ishimura to fall silent above Aegis VII.

The gameplay places you in the boots of Isaac Clarke an Engineer recruited into a small team who are tasked with finding out why the Ishimura is not responding or reporting anything anymore. Since Isaac is not a soldier, the majority of the weapons you find and use onboard the ship are a range of tools spanning from Plasma Cutters and Circular Saws to Line Guns and Contact Beams (all of which can be upgraded alongside the suit you wear). The tight corridors and small rooms force you to engage your enemies up close and personal with little room to manoeuvre in some areas. You will quickly learn that the key to dispatching your enemies quickly and efficiently is to dismember them. There are a variety of different monsters that you will encounter all with their own strengths and weaknesses that you will learn and exploit as you come across them throughout your journey.

Performance-wise is where things get a bit interesting (this may change with future patches and updates) but I run an RTX 2070 with an i7 10700k and would get anywhere between 60-144fps (medium settings with DLSS enabled and volumetric effects set to low) depending on how busy the scene would get with enemies, dismembered limbs and physics objects moving around. It ran okay in my opinion but could do with some improvements.

I'll be crossing my fingers for a remake of the second title in the series.

I can recommend this game as it is free to play with refined gameplay that has been crafted from developers who are clearly passionate about their work and who listen to community feedback.

The game runs great with plenty of options to customise how you want the game to run for you. The gameplay is a blend of classic PvP multiplayer with a modern twist. Maps feature various different points to fight over for weapons and armour abilities. Armour abilities no longer activate as soon as you pick them up as they did in previous titles. You can now choose when to use the ability giving the player the chance to plan ahead for when to use them at the right time.

The weapons feel great with good sounds and smooth animations. You can customise your armour and weapons with various different pieces, skins and charms to make your spartan/weapon unique.

The current state of the battle pass has mixed opinions. In order to progress in the pass, you must complete a set of daily and weekly challenges. None of these challenges currently aim towards winning matches so a lot of players go out of their way just to progress their battle pass which results in some frustrating losses sometimes.

Receiver 2 is a great game. I would recommend it to players who are patient and willing to learn and adapt to a new game style.

This is not an action packed game. You play as yourself. Waking up in an unknown location, a weapon and a handful of bullets. The objective of each rank is to find cassette tapes that have been left behind for you by another receiver. Some of them will be facts about the enemy you are facing, the weapon you are holding or more interestingly; the consumption of social media and your mental health.

I nominated this game for the 2020 Steam Awards for the Sit Back and Relax award. If you clear your mind and focus you will achieve the rank of receiver. If you are distracted and pay little attention to what you are doing you will suffer.

This game was an instant classic when it was initially released 17 years ago.

My Verdict:

I fully recommmend this game to anyone who is a fan of military shooters with squad tactics. The game is fairly dated but still holds well and is probably one of the best games in the Ghost Recon franchise.

To summarise what this game is all about, you are in charge of a fictional special forces unit in the U.S. Army conducting missions behind the scenes for your convential troops. Missions range from strike operations to assisting NATO peacekeepers and prison raids.

The Briefing:

The gameplay is relatively simple. Before you start a mission you are briefed on the current situation and what tasks need to be done in order to complete the mission. You are then taken to a loadout screen. Here you choose what soldiers you want to take on your mission. There are 4 soldier types. Rifleman, Demolitions, Sniper and Support which can be placed in to 3 different fireteams, Alpha, Bravo and Charlie team.

Deployment:

Once you have selected your team you are ready to deploy to the mission area. The game itself is a first person shooter with basic squad management controls. You can micromanage your squad as much or as little as you want. You can choose to deploy with up to 6 soldiers split into 3 fireteams however, you can only put up to 3 soldiers in a single fireteam. This means if you want all 6 soldiers on the field you will have to deploy a minimum of 2 fireteams.

Gameplay:

Movement is slow compared to modern games. There are two speeds. Walking and running. You can lean left and right to peak around cover/objects. Shooting is also simple. There is no option to aim down sights (though you can zoom in a little). All you have on your screen is a sight picture. No 3d weapon models, no reload animation, no weapon switching animations.

When managing your squad on the field you can switch to each indivual soldier to control them. You can also choose whether you want your squad to engage the enemy on sight or if you want them to hold fire. If your squad is holding fire and the enemy engages them they will return fire.

A game that I would recommend to any horror and puzzle fan.

SOMA has an incredibly atmospheric and immersive world which you will certainly not forget. The puzzles and monsters are also varied and interesting. You will complete the game in between 8 and 10 hours depending on your skill level and how much backstory you decide to delve into. Once again, Frictional Games have created another high quality product with an amazing story.

Fantastic story with fairly simple yet fun gameplay. Plenty of items to discover and read about as well as facts on the war and the battles that took place within the time period. Crying is compulsory. I recommend this game to everyone!

Empire: Total War is just one of those games that armchair generals cannot afford to miss out on. The speed of the gameplay is just about right. It's not too slow and not too fast. The visuals are amazing to say it's a pretty old game now. I keep finding myself reinstalling it just to take my next empire to total victory!

Only con is waiting at the end of every turn. It can take up to 10 minutes if you do not turn the speed up during the cpu's turns.

One of the best WW2 games you will ever play. Set on the Eastern Front between 1941-43 you play as either a German soldier or a Russian soldier. Very realistic and fun to play.
