Roguelite version of Mechwarrior 5, without the autistic-level of customization. It's not perfect, but it is fun.

Up to 10 players in online coop. I've played with 1 other and have no idea how a full game would run, but it seems like it would be insane.

Solid tactics game. I gave up on the "survival of my people" aspect and let them all leave the caravan. I still won in the end, with zero clansmen, fighters, or varl.

I greatly enjoy this game. The premise of "you see 5 seconds into the future" and merging that into a Frozen Synapse-like turn planning game with Mecha customization is excellent.

I'm only half a dozen missions in, but this scratches the itch I had for Into The Breach (which I consider to be the greatest tactics game of all time) very well.

The devs recently released Phantom Brigade version 2.0 as a major overhaul of the game, so it's a good time to check out this title.

If you liked the first one, this is better in nearly every way.

Classic Contra titles through the mid 1990's, including the Arcade and Japanese versions.

This is a killer collection and a must-have for anyone who enjoys these old run-n-gun titles.

Note: The Arcade titles suffer from slowdown and glitches, unfortunately. Each of the times I played through them, at some point the sound cut out partially or completely and did not return until I restarted the game from scratch. This includes losing my audio for my entire progress if I used the Save & Load State functions.

If you like autobattlers, M&M2 is solid. That's really all there is to it--no fluff, no ads, no DLC. Just exactly what the developer states in the Steam store listing.

I'd like to see us be able to hire more of the monsters you can fight against, but there are probably ~30 or so different types you can hire via 5 tiers. Most heroes you choose will start with tier 1 monsters available and 1 spell, though a few will have various bonuses or penalties to spells.

BTW: Magarth turns into an unstoppable blender, killing everything including the game's frame rate at very high (60+ rounds).

Early Access Review
Titan Quest 2 needs a lot more time in the oven before its ready for full release. The bones of this Early Access build are solid, the base of the story is intriguing, and the gameplay is what you'd expect in a sequel from TQ/IT. There is currently no multiplayer available, which is one of the main drawing points for me when it comes to ARPGs of this style.

I'll tinker with it some more, but I'll most likely sit this one out until full release time.

Easily one of the best games of all time. The action is intense, the controls impeccably precise, the soundtrack masterfully written and performed, and the overall mood is only one which Supergiant can consistently nail as they've done in the past.

This game is a must-buy, regardless of sale. If you enjoy any sort of action roguelite, get it--especially under $10.

Early Access Review
I gave it a try since they added PvE only (no PvP) sessions. You can still get trolled by other players to a small degree (e.g. aggro trains, like the old MMO days of yore), but they can't directly damage you in this mode.

I enjoyed it enough to buy the game, even though I could continue with Free 2 Play where you only have 1 character slot.

It needs more time in the oven, for sure, but it has solid bones. Three separate dungeons, each with three floors (IIRC) and a bunch of optional/esoteric areas you don't have to visit if you don't want. Just get in, kill stuff, loot, and survive until you can extract--usually around 5 minutes remaining or so.

(edit 09 June 2025)

It seems the devs have removed PvE (Adventure) mode, and you can't effectively play solo anymore. That defeats my reasons I bought it in the first place...so f*** these guys. This used to be a thumbs-up review, but no longer.
