Haven't had this much fun in a Battlefield game in a long time. Atmosphere and visuals are immaculate, even on lower graphic settings. Maps seem to flow pretty well with good structure and visual variety. Infantry gameplay is very fun with tight gunplay and movement. Guns feel weighty and encourage burst/tap fire at a distance. The destruction may not be heavily physics-dependent but wow does it look spectacular. The helis and jets I've played also seem to handle much better, with helis having good momentum and jets using speed control for turning like in Battlefield 4. I've also seen a lot more teamwork than I usually do in Battlefield games. Overall the game plays well and is in a very stable and polished state.

What to watch out for:
- Most maps are medium-sized, which actually flow very well and are very fun to me, but if you need Golmud Railway sized maps to have fun, you'll only find one or two, though they're adding more in DLC.
- Yes, there are some female soldiers, if that bothers you. But the only difference that makes is their voice lines, and you can unlock male soldiers for every class and faction too.

With the latest update, the game is finally up to what I consider to be release standards. There are still a few issues, and the performance still isn't too great, but if you have a decent system, you'll be able to appreciate the plus points of this game more.

For me, the fun in Killing Floor is getting weapons that feel powerful and satisfying, and using them for shooting, slicing, dismembering, and exploding tons of zeds. With the recent updates, this game finally manages to deliver that experience, even if not quite up to par with its predecessor. What the game does well, though, is a darker tone, uniquely disturbing creature designs, and excellent gore. The headshot effects, the dismembering of limbs, and the shooting and blowing flesh off of bones makes the gore a step up from previous entries, though the physics in reaction to explosions and explosive weapons are occasionally lackluster and not as clean as KF2's. Melee weapons are usually what accentuate and show off this gore the most, and slicing and dicing is definitely the most satisfying it's ever been.

There are some other mechanics like weapon mods and different afflictions/weaknesses/resistances that add variety to the combat and replayability to the game in general. They're not perfectly balanced, but I've found myself trying to play more and more to unlock new attachments and find new ways to play.

The monetization is also a big improvement over KF2. Weapons and maps are free, and the only paid items are optional cosmetics, which I find a good balance to support future content drops. The speed of content has not been too encouraging so far, but future updates are supposed to improve the situation.

The downsides are the still somewhat subpar performance, lack of mod support leading to less content, and gunplay that, though exceeding many other games I've played, still feels a step behind KF2.

Overall, it still scratches that itch for me, and includes enough to make me want to keep playing and trying out new things.

Major negatives: Game takes an eternity to load from desktop (for around 30 seconds it just shows the starting KF2 art screen). On top of that, game crashes are too common, especially while connecting to servers or changing maps. And once the game crashes I never play it again for the rest of my session because of the aforementioned atrocious loading times.

Minor negatives: High ping deteriorates your experience more than in other games, because the higher your ping is, the longer the delay is between you firing and the Zed being hit and reacting to your fire. It really takes away from the feel of the weapons which no longer feel as powerful and destructive. So if you live in a region where servers are not closely available, your experience will suffer. The best I get is 100 ping, which is playable.

Positives: I've always been a fan of the Killing Floor series, and this game does everything perfectly to build on the first one. More and better looking guns (gun animations are top-notch, especially in slow-mo). Shooting feels weighty. The gore physics and Zed damage is one of a kind. There's nothing better than seeing a bunch of zeds satisfyingly disassembled by a well timed grenade in slow-mo. The progression tree is a welcome addition, and the cosmetics are plentiful and imaginative.
