A CCG that is both compelling both visually and mechanically. Shadowverse has gradually taken up more time from me than Hearthstone has (I have many more hours on mobile). It plays very similarly to Hearthstone on the surface level (great for those coming from said game), but distinguishes itself through its evolve mechanic - enabling back and forth tempo swings that can make games feel much less one sided despite poor draws.

Each of the seven classes also have mostly unique mechanics such as Spellboost from Runecraft (each of your spells will power the rest in your hand) and Forestcraft (cards gain strength from the number of cards played on a single turn).

In terms of business model, it is fairly run of the mill with pricing that is similar to most other online CCG's, however it is quite generous in the free packs/content that is handed out - particularly early on.

Personally I like the art, however that is subjective. Mosty cards do have unique animations on summon and attacks and are all voiced (English VO is suprisingly good quality - there are methods to switch to the original JP voices however).

All in all if you enjoy this kind of art style there is no reason to not give Shadowverse a shot, and even if you don't, you may still find the gameplay compelling enough to get over the undoubtedly (albeit high quality) weeby art style.
