An incredible puzzle game with extremely good art, puzzle, story, and sound design. A short and excellent masterpiece.

A magical, magical experience. Arguably deeper than Hollow Knight. If you have the time to play a game of this length, I highly recommend.

A delightfully polished combo of hack-and-slash rougelike combat, and community resource management sim, all in one cute culty package! If the above genre mashup sounds good to you, give Cult of The Lamb a play!

Hypnospace Outlaw gives me nostalgia for a time I didn't live through.

More of a novelty game than anything else (though I haven't yet had a chance to play against a human opponent), the idea here is so clever that I can't help but recommend it regardless. It's near-impossible to fully grasp the strategic implications of a move, so you end up operating largely on vibes, but you'll have a good time trying to come to grips with the surreal complication this game rapidly spirals into. Also if you win a game the bragging rights alone make it worth it :)

Prey seems to shift genres as you play it, moving from tense survival horror to platformer power fantasy as you're given more and more special abilities that turn a claustrophobic labyrinthine space station into a scifi playground. The plot & characters are serviceable, but weak. I was hoping for something a bit less cliche than what we got, honestly, but alas, AAA games are rarely known for innovative storytelling. The gameplay, however, is great, and very well-polished, especially later on. There are almost always multiple different ways to approach problems, leading to some really fun organic moments that are largely player-directed. I'd consider this to be a *fun* game, but I didn't walk away a changed person or anything. Would recommend if you have some spare time on your hands, but it's not a "must-play".

Platformer perfection, with a story that always manages to make me tear up. 10/10 masterpiece

Dark Souls II is about learning to dance. It's a world you stumble into, feel blindingly at the controls in desperate hope of staying alive; you trip, fall, and roll on your feet as the blows swing around you; but eventually you begin to perceive a rhythm in the madness. There are hidden beats here, throbbing just below the surface, and as your awareness expands, you begin to tap into the beat. You stop fighting the monsters, rushing ahead mindlessly; you *dance* with them. Roll. Parry. Strike. Beat. Roll-roll, parry, strike-strike. Beat. You become fluid motion, a whirlwind not fighting the elements but at one with them. Once you start understanding the dance, of course the beat shifts, but you're going to dance with it, given enough time and practice. Eventually you'll be able to add your own artistic flair and flourish to the dance, and perhaps soon, one day, you'll be Hollow no more...
