Early Access Review
With 150 hours in game, I have accomplished leveling 1 character to lvl 9. I also have 6 alts varying from level 4 to level 8. I spend a lot of time gathering resources and just exploring the the Thronefast region. I play with 4 other friends. We solo some and group some. The most noticeable thing with PRotF, The servers are Stable. An outstanding accomplishment from a very small Dev team. We all know of AAA games that can't say this. The game play is solid. Sometimes limited in scope, but solid none the less. There are some bugs, but I have not run into anything that I would consider game breaking. The Staff Are responsive and the community at large is very helpful. The game is early access. this means not all intended features are in the game, somethings are place holders, and the game depth is shallow, but getting deeper. Aside from a few crafting bugs, some strange higher level mobs in what would normally be considered a noob area, and few annoying collision issues in world, what we have to play with works. Yes the graphics are not the best, and this is explained on a few dev logs, but they are decent. Graphics don't make a game, they add to it. The game play loops at higher level are a little more limited than the lower levels, but that is being worked on too. All the more reason not to rush to the end game. All in all, I have been enjoying my time here. The current foundation that is playable and has many hours of game play available. This is not a WoW clone. This game does not hold your hand. There are not any quest markers. No exclamation points or rings over NPCs that have quest for you. Talk to every NPC, and check back with them once in while. Explore the world. there are numerous out of the way place to look for. Not everything has a reward to offer, but worth the look anyway. The combat is deadly. Don't agro multiple mobs and try to AOE them to death, it won't work. The crafting system is not basic, but not overly complex either. Some things are a little confusing and clunky, but the majority of the time, are functional. The lack of even an in game world map makes it a little hard to find you way in the wilds, but makes exploration more meaningful.

TLDR: A solid start to an Old School style MMORPG. Soloing and Grouping, power gaming and casual, all viable options. Stable servers with few bugs. NO hand holding from the UI or game systems. Good community and staff. Hours of fun to be had.

Single player game with lots to offer. If you want a 'multi-player' experience, get on a voice chat with other people playing SF. Everyone's experience will be different based on their choices, but you get to laugh and curse right with them knowing what is happening to them and them to you. I recommend not rushing to NG+ The gear has better stats but so do the enemies. Take your time, enjoy the faction and side quests. Hire a crew, do some jobs, help some folk. Build an outpost or two, or 20. Link them together to craft high end components to upgrade your gear. Survey the planets. Explore the structures you come across. Commandeer ships. Sell your loot. Build your own ships. All of these activities offer hours of entertainment. I am 317 hours with a single character at time of writing, and have only completed 7 main (Constellation) quests, There are a lot of different quest lines and side missions. Enjoy the journey. It is not meant to be 'completed' over a single weekend.

Shallow. Once again a half made game with the content being PVP. You would think since Virtual Basement worked on ARK, they would at least have the building mechanics to that level. They are what ARK was 3 years ago. More like a game as a service, with the same incremental additions and no going back and correcting some of the annoying bugs that people have been complaining about, that all the other games as a service have provided.

Even if you don't care about the story and the Evochron series, still a good space ship Sim. Combat takes most of the time in space but there are other options. Great graphics and the customization of controls is quick and easy, and can be done on the fly. I have have had tons of fun with this game even though Steam thinks I only played for a few hours. A good buy if you want a good spaceship Sim.

I have played this game for nearly 700 hours as unlimited, and before that several hundred as Online. This is a true sandbox. There is no 'end game'. You find things to do, projects, friends. It can be brutal, grindy, infuriating, but also fulfilling, enjoyable, and even a little fun. Best played as multi player. Quite a few game mechanics make more sense when you have competition or help. All in all a very good way to spend your time if you have nothing else to do. Sure there are a few small issues, but the game Devs are still actively working on it. As for content, it is a sand box. Lots of games are called sand boxes, but very few truly are. This one is. There are not any Quest givers standing around telling you what to go do. Play your way.

You want to play a game with no pressure to have follow a certain path? Maybe you grow weary of killing mobs for hours on end just so some NPC can have his mob bits. You don't have to do anything in WURM that you don't want to, except feed and water you character. Everything else is optional. Set up a shop and sell goods to other player. Breed animals for food or crafting materials or pets or to sell. Build a cabin in the woods, a castle, a bridge, a kingdom. Become the baddest ass fighter on your server, big game hunter, magic user, even become a deity. The list goes on. Of course you could choose to do all of these, or none. That's the beauty of a true sand box game. Play how you want. There are even mods out there that can alter game mechanics or add or change items, abilities etc.

If you are looking for a game experience where you decide what to do with your time, this is the game for you. If you want run around and be an errand boy for NPC's you won't like WU very much.
