So far I'm really enjoying anime Stardew Valley -- I mean Fields of Mistria. It really does feel very similar to SDV in tone and mechanics, with the same kinds of locales, activities and character archetypes. BUT, that's not a bad thing by any means. It's very charming and fun (and addicting) just like SDV was. My favorite character so far is absolutely Juniper -- she reminds me very strongly of Naga the Serpent from the Slayers anime. And honestly all the character designs are greatly reminiscent of early '90s anime, which I'm sure the dev was going for. I can't help but think that there's some kind of horrible DARK SECRET hidden behind all the friendly faces of the town leaders and artisans. We'll see.

It's a shame that Ubisoft is such a scummy company and Denuvo is literal trash, because Anno 1800 is pretty fun and immersive. Ubisoft's games are generally well made like this one, with good polish, it's just that they are excessively predatory with DLC and microtransactions.

The level of detail, immersion and world-building in this game is second to none. I literally do not understand the hate that Control gets. So far I am loving the world and the gameplay. The combat is just difficult enough to be challenging, and the lore is incredible SCP-esque supernatural stuff that tickles my brain. Jesse is how to do a female protagonist correctly. She's not overly sexualized, but is attractive, but she doesn't make being a woman part of her character. She's a great character first, and that's something more AAA games need to learn from. Again, so many people really hate this game with a fiery passion, and I can't understand why. It's masterfully made and feels very cinematic. I got it on sale and it would have been worth full price to me.

A masterclass in a city design sim. A natural evolution from SimCity. Since CS2 didn't perform so well, this is the better option if you want to be a petty (or loving) dictator and play god with thousands of city residents. Should be part of every sim gamer's library, it's a classic.

I saw a mudcrab the other day. Horrible creatures. I've heard others say the same. Take care. Good day.

Isn't it amazing how one guy can make a game that's more engaging and fun than 90% of the garbage that AAA studios plop out nowadays? It really makes you think.

No time to write a review, I have to get back to addictively opening packs of virtual cards.

EDIT: Yes, I know about the situation of the hostile takeover of the original Zaum creators. No, I don't really care. I'm not an activist, and I shouldn't be expected to be one on Steam. I'm here to play cool video games, and if that means buying them from a disreputable studio, so be it.

I initially passed over this game for being too esoteric and pretentious with its dialogue. In just the few hours I've played, I can say that I was 100% WRONG about that. Disco Elysium has immediately sucked me in with its atmosphere, incredibly deep dialogue that is supremely written and quite funny in parts, and very human characters. It's all stylized just enough and fantastical enough to remove it from banal real-world politics and existence, but is grounded enough in reality so you know you are playing a flawed MC without any superpowers. Some of the dialogue is hard to interpret for me, and I was a news editor for 11 years. High-dollar-value terms and concepts abound in this game, and if you struggle with language, this may not be the game for you. Otherwise, dive right in, I say. The world they built here is quite believable and easy to get lost in for hours, and you'll enjoy the snarky antics of the MC and the narrator.
