Early Access Review
Satisfactory is an amazing open sandbox building/factory game. It checks a lot of boxes for me. The developers have been focusing on the building aspect and the open world. The only thing it's missing is some form of an end game. It's still in early access but some optional "Horde Nights" and some factory defenses would be fun. Just something fun to do after you've unlocked most of the game.

Still fairly new, but there seems to be a good amount of replay-ability.

Edit since Immortal Empires release: Warhammer III finally fixed most of the issues I had with the Immortal Empires release. Now it's the giant sandbox I always wanted.

I love the Warhammer Total War series. I have over 1,500 hours on Warhammer Total War 2.

I'm not a head to head multiplayer person, so all I have is the main campaign.

The Realms of Chaos campaign is fun, the first time you play, then becomes really repetitive. The factions are unique and different. It should lead to a lot of replay-ability, but it just doesn't. They fixed it a bit with 1.1, but it's still not where I would like it.

After the first play through, it's takes a lot less effort to expand enough to afford a second army, then just press end turn till you can win the game. Provided they don't have enemies at the gates, a 1 province faction that has done poorly has about the same chance of winning the game as one who has half the map. Honestly, they just should not have released the game without a Mortal Empires grand Campaign.

Early Access Review
I'm going against the grain on this, but I find Factorio somewhat boring. I don't think it is a bad game, and it seems like the developers care, which is important. I just find it very monotonous. It is kind of funny, because I love building games. I like Satisfactory, which is a 3D version of Factorio that isn't even as far along in development.

Now this might be user error or something I missed, but I could not find anyway to rotate the screen. I'm used to games that the screen follows what direction you are facing and adjust the camera accordingly. Because of this, I seem to have some difficulty controlling the vehicles as well as I would like. Because of that, I seem to get stuck more often then I like in combat.

It seems like resources are fairly far apart, which is both good and bad. It makes you combat the aliens to claim territory, but it seems like they are still very far away, and it is boring running conveyors to feed your lines.

I'm going to keep playing a bit, but this is it for now.

I don't review often, but I've played Total War Warhammer II quite a bit. This game is the best of the Total War series by far, and I've been a fan since Rome/Medieval 2. The Vortex campaign is decent, but the Mortal Empires map is very fun. Nearly every race has a different play style and most have a very different unique roster. I've played co-op with a friend for about half my hours. It's fun, unless they are huge risk takers and get wiped, then you both lose. Single player is fun as well.

As far as the real time strategy part of it, pretty much everything has a counter. Positioning matters. Terrain matters. Fear and terror matter. If you want challenge, Very Hard and Legendary difficulties are... pretty hard. If you make a mistake or two, and you can expect some good punishment.

Overall, if you like both real time and turn based strategy, this game has them balanced. It's fun.

The biggest con for the game: If you want to full game experience... it's going to cost you due to the DLC. And I mean a lot if you are just getting into the series. If you want any of the races from Total War 1, you have to buy TW1, and the appropriate DLC. It goes on sale a lot, but it's normally $60 + $77 for all the DLC. Total Warhammer 2 is worse, $60, plus $85. I personally think it's worth over $100 but $282 is a lot for one fully unlocked game. Buy it on sale. If you like it, then buy the DLC on sale.

I suppose it's time to update my review. I've been playing Stellaris off and on since launch. It's the Cadillac of space strategy in my opinion. The game has changed a ton since the beginning. There have been a few changes that annoyed me at the time, but seeing the game now, I can't complain too much. I like nearly all the content the expansions have brought, especially Federations and Megacorp. Initially it was only destroy you enemies and win. Now there are a massive amount of choices and ways to play. My only complaint is Multiplayer is difficult if you are playing with a newbie friend, and they get a bad spawning location. If only they had an option for "spawn near other players".

So, quite a few of the negative reviews have been due to when they released Creation Club a few months ago. Basically, people are in an outrage saying Bethesda is trying to make people buy paid mods. In reality, they are just offering additional paid content to the base game that is similar to mods. It's no different then phone games offering you different items for money, which a lot of people do. These people who are in an outrage did not lose anything, they can still use any mod they like, and they are not required to buy anything. Honestly, you don't even have to open Creation Club, ever. I believe they are giving the bad reviews due to the fear that mods might some day no longer be free, and are fighting it with every fiber of their being. Besthesda never said they were ever going to stop or limit free mods, and honestly, that's a big draw to the game. They are the ones that allow you to modify the game. A lot of games don't even allow it at all.

The same thing happened to publisher Paradox Interactive recently. Basically, their prices were not even across the world, and they were selling for much less in some countries then others. They increased their prices in most countries, except the U.S.A. who were paying more for the games to begin with. Because they didn't inform their customers ahead of time, people changed their reviews to negative to hurt the company. If anyone should have been outraged, it should have been the U.S.A. customers, because they were being overcharged.

People don't understand... if you hurt these companies for stupid ♥♥♥♥, they won't be releasing as many quality games. You want them to make money. If they make money, they make a new game, and it is usually better then the last! It is just people trying to group up to make the developer bend to their will. And most people are idiots.

That said, I highly enjoy this game. I have spent over 300 hours playing it, and I haven't even downloaded a single mod. Higher difficulties make the game very challenging. There are a lot of quests and companions. The graphics are good, and the world is unique and awesome! I enjoy the depth and attention to detail Bethesda puts into their games. My only complaint is if you explore early, areas lock as low levels, and it is a little annoying. There is a mod that fixes this... and... it's free!

So, I don't write reviews very often, however, this game has sucked me in. It's worth me taking a minute to write a review. I have spent quite a few hours playing it, and honestly, I don't think I'd lose intrest unless I run out of things to upgrade. There is a ton of replayability.

The game is Rogue-like, you are constantly starting over, but constantly upgrading and getting stronger as well. The storyline is weak, and the only negative I have encountered so far. The Encounters expansion actually added quite a bit of fun, a ton of new and interesting missions. The combat is very fun. Each "run" can last a few minutes if you have bad luck, up to 3+ hours. I tend to linger as long as possible to find as much loot as possible, but you could probably do a run on normal in 2 hours or less.

I'd reconmend a few runs on easy to get used to the controls. On easy, one on one it's a slaughter in your favor. You usually have to have quite a few enemies or a large ship on you to die. The enemies miss a lot and don't do a ton of damage. You can hit rock and asteroids with little damage on easy, even while boosting.

Normal mode is still pretty challenging, unless you have a fully maxed out ship. One on one, you have an advantage, but higher level enemies and some bad luck can get you pretty hurt. When facing multiple enemies, you usually have to use something, like missles, or combat overdrive to gain an advantage. The AI hits quite a bit harder from easy mode. Also, if you hit a rock or asteroid on Normal mode... you feel pain. It usually wipes your shield and half your health if you were boosting. It's fairly realistic.

I have not tried Hard mode, but I expect a lot of pain. I'd bet one on one is pretty even, multiple enemies/large ships are a great challenge, and hitting a rock or asteroid means instant death.

There are four different types of ships so far, and each add a unique way to play.

The Colonial Interceptor is your starting ship, it's a jack of all trades. It is basically average in everything.

The Colonial Scout is a stealth ship. It's probably the hardest of all of them to master. It has few hit points, low shields, a cloaking device, and a few neat tricks.

The Colonial Gunship is a brute, no shields, high hitpoints, an auto turrent, and a lot of guns and drones.

The Colonial Sentinal is a ship with slightly less hitpoints, and a lot of shields.

If you like space games with great combat, and replayability, this is the game for you. I highly reconmend it. The only negative is the story was written by a third grader. But, honestly, would you rather have a game with super fun game play 95% of the time, and 5% bad story, or watch a cutscene movie 50% of the time, and be annoyed by the boring game play?

It would be kind of cool if they added a random multiplayer element. In one random area per sector, you could meet another player, and either trade, assist, or fight them, and you would compete for resources in that small area. Just as long as it didn't turn into a highly leveled up player beating up on a low level player.
