as of right now i have to give this a thumbs down, purchased this dlc, varified it was checked in my dlc list which only includes 2 dlc's, cannot use said items in game at all, the customization screen states it still needs to be purchased, even tho the ingame store even registers it as purchased, i MAY change this review if this gets fixed but as of this time, not being able to access content that the game even acknowledges was purchased, is a BIG nope for me.

honestly from me i feel this game should be mixed coming from someone who loved the 1st game to death i have to give it a thumbs up as the improvements and pros outweigh my major con which honestly makes me torn about the game. this game is honestly great with many improvements over the old early 2000s evil genius game with everything from the voice acting to graphics (a bit of a given seeing its been almost 20 years). one of my favorite improvements are to the islands system, at the time of review there is 3 islands which have different floors (compared to the first games only 2 islands with 1 floor) adding great diversity to gameplay with that alone. The geniuses honestly feel a little better then those in the 1st game aswell (who couldnt defend themselves) and the henchmen have been expanded apon greatly. That being said i have to speak about the biggest glaring issue i have with this game which often makes the game far less enjoyable compared to the first game and thats the lack of the colorful commentary in the form of radio broadcasts that were in the first game which just made the world feel alot more alive and gave the old game alot more character, granted some of these "like the broadcasts from china for instance" are a little on the more umm how to say questionable side which with todays PC culture i can honestly say i understand why they may have choose not to go this route even tho it still leaves the EG world feeling alot less alive. another issue i have is the arbitrary changing of borders and nations with previous F.O.J. (forces of justice) groups residing in completely different continents then before (such as SABRE which used to be most of europe and the expanded british holdings being turned into africa and HAMMER which used to be the soviet union taking dominion of all of europe) this change i honestly feel was not nessessry and honestly kinda dumbs down the world building even further from what was seen as a cold war era world to one that cannot effectively be recognized without some added world building exposition

TLDR gameplay has improved greatly but character has declined

this game in my honest opinion is why steam needs a mixed recommendation but because it dosnt i have to give this a no.... dont get me wrong the campaign map is beautiful with many unique characters and oddly enough is the least glitchy of all TWs on launch i can remember...... but the one glaring issue for me is the battles and the fact that other then the Unique commanders everyone of the same class essentually looks and feels the same all the soldiers look the same with no deviations on there equipment and only minor differences in uniform color (alot of factions share uniform colors for some odd reason) and the only difference in units on the battle field is this guy who looks the same as this guy has a bow instead of a shoddy halberd or this guy with a bow has a breastplate where as this guy dosnt. to my memory not even shogun total war felt this copy and pasted for the factions (one thing most people seem not to remember about shogun) for atleast with the dlcs some factions actually began feeling unique ..... as it stands the only factions who actually seem different are the preorder yellow turbans and the bandits everyone else tho (who are atleast 3/4 of the factions) you might as well play a starwars game cause the clone army is real

honestly only get this dlc if you want overpowered skaven this dlc is far from balanced on release and gives no real benefit to the lizardmen faction with even the red crested skinks being arguably weaker then regular skinks not to mention the poor texturing and unfinished animation of the red chrested skink chief showing which faction they truely focused on

i dont beleave the new extended edition lives up to the original games legecy the striped out a good bit of content and all the new game has going for it is the so called updated graphics which r essentually more colorful lighting and such it was truely a let down as i am a true lover of the original game and pre orderd the extended edition here with high hopes for a great gameing experience i truely hope they fix the game cause as of now i am vary displeased in the product
as of now i do not recommend getting this game if some key things r fixed such as how they removed the wonderful unit glossary that was in the original i might change my opinion (i really do miss the unit glossary which told the history of human units and the mythology behind the myth units)
