Limbus Company Summary Review

This is a surprising thing to review considering I usually write reviews when I complete a game. However, there are exceptions to these rules, such as when I play a multiplayer game that I found interesting or the story within the multiplayer game is interesting. This however is a gacha game and I am surprised it is one of the best gacha games I have ever played in my life.

Maybe I am being biased since this game is my first gacha game ever to be played. I’ve been meaning to play a Gacha game like Genshin Impact, but the time never got around. When it came to Limbus Company I’ve always wanted to try this game out ever since the first announcement, mainly due to the music, art style and gameplay that appeal to me but I never got around to try it….until now.

I Gacha Now!

This game has now become my main game to play, mainly through the story. I don’t know what other gacha game’s stories are like, but Project Moon is special for building up three games with different game mechanics that start in the same world setting. So for Limbus Company you might think you gotta play the first to understand the lore, yes? Well no, any of the three games you can play in any order and you will understand the world of The City as what the game’s setting takes place.

Throughout the game’s gameplay you play in two ways, chain encounters, and focus encounters. Chain encounters are mainly like fast pace fights where you focus on what type of skills you should chain up and the best chance to win a clash over your enemy wins. Focus battle is the same, but slow paced focusing a part of the enemy, it’s hard to explain the gameplay in great detail, but all you gotta focus on is, is it complicated? No, is the game hard? kinda, but it depends, which is where the gacha mechanic comes in.

Usually in a gacha game obviously there will be gambling involved hence the genre. To win clashes (or battles against an enemy attack) you need stronger skills. How do you get it? You level up your ID, you can combine your ID’s for more power like getting status effects. What is an ID and how are status effects work on enemies? That’s where the main gacha mechanic comes in. Like some gacha games where you collect certain characters for their abilities you collect ID “cards” for your 12 sinners, yes only 12 no more than that. you unlock an ID by grinding free lunacy currency, you get an alter self of Sinclair for example (just roll with it) and unlock additional movesets and status effects like burn!

Usually companies market certain games with certain eye candy appeal on characters to of course tempt people to buy in-game purchase currency for them to gamble for summons. The way Limbus Company handles its characters is much preferred, because It focuses on fleshing out this set character with the IDs you possess. you get extra lore of the alter version as well as more powerful movesets by unlocking skill threads, which keep the game interesting to invest in!

Other games would focus on how to make you gamble certain appeal characters to summon, or skins to unlock, creating this dopamine rush like making the UI menu look more like a casino ring to make you “try your luck.” It just gets my skin crawled, especially how certain patterns of this genre show the same anime stylistic choice which creates blandness. Not to mention non-fleshout characters to work with, just the sex appeal, this one is its own thing and is not as predatory from its presentation UI menu which is good!



Limbus has a good artistic choice that stands out the characters from the rest, they are very fleshout characters which surprise me because working with 12 characters in a story is a lot of work that needs talent to micro manage. This is how I came to be very attracted to the game, the world building, the art style, the music my god, the characters which each are based in a book they are told but will still tell a unique story that will surprise you of how each of the characters are being told through the world of The City. It is not only a very player friendly game at least in the beginning where you get many resources to get good IDs to get. The pricing could be better not being high, thankfully the grind isn’t that grueling, replayability is not so bad, but I feel when you replay certain dungeons many times it gets stale I will admit.

The difficulty of this game I heard people say it’s very brutal, and yes I died certain bosses several times, and you can’t get pass without level up or get good IDs yes, but the majority of the time even if you got the best IDs like I had, there are certain battles you will get side step if you are not careful, which is why you have to look through certain enemies like a puzzle. It is what Project Moon’s entire franchise builds upon, figure out the enemy's weak spots! I’ll give this game my high recommendation scale, despite it being a free game, though this has earned me to atleast give some money for a fantastic experience, including how enlightening this game has brought me! I will explain to you all in my analysis review!

Food For Thought Review

I don’t know if I should call this a game, or a demo, because if you can see how much I play is not by much. The game was extremely short, and I contemplated whether to make this review or not. The game doesn’t have much of a plot besides you natigate yourself and your friend to an island attraction park and trying to get out of there….that’s all. The puzzles were good, in fact this is the first time you can retry a puzzle to get a better score to earn a golden ticket for a golden part for your part for your friendship boat to build. This is more for people who have never play this series at all, but wants to try it. This is a perfect introduction game to the series or if not an introduction to the escape room genre, this will get your feet wet if you wish to play more games like this or not so much. Personally, I enjoyed this genre because I love puzzle type games, the We were Here series is one of my favorites in terms of puzzle mechanics, stories and of course bonding with people, such as one family member whom I’ve played with since beginning to end. This was all worth it.

Max Payne 3

Seven years ago from today, I promised myself that I would review Max Payne 3 as soon as I finish Max Payne 2, but it never came. I was flooding my system with booze and pills that I thought I would never get out of that hole, something woke me up that I decided it was time. So I put up my leather jacket, drop the booze but keep the pills to finally start to finish what I started.

Okay, in actuality I was occupied with other games and life kept me busy, you know, adult life. I finally got the energy to play this game after seven years, does it hold up from today? Is it a great trilogy to end on? Let’s dive in our medicine cabinet and find out!

Cheap Booze, But Great Payne Threshold: Summary review

I would say, this is the best Max Payne game in terms of gameplay, there is so many good action sequences to the point where I kinda wish Max would have his own movie….not the 2008 version one. The story honestly, did not latch on to me quite as gripping as the previous two, while the first is finding out the truth, the second is letting go of the pain and moving forward, the third is more like you are a mere tool and just going along on the ride. I will elaborate more after the summary review. However, it does not mean is a bad story by any means, it just feels a bit lacking identity like is missing something crucial. Overall, I will stay mainly for the gameplay, it was so much fun blasting away enemies with my duel pistols while hanging upside down from a helicopter!

The signature slow mode is pack and and the gun action pack is better than ever! Weapons, map design, the action sequence, is absolute fun. There are scenes where you feel like you are in an action movie where they do crazy stunts such as enemies shooting you with a rocket launcher and you shoot it down! I have very little complaints with the gameplay, I wait for a sale, it is still great gameplay and if it is your first Max Payne game then this might be a good start.

The Man Who Becomes: Story analysis; minor spoiler

The best description I would describe in this game is, hokey. I get that the past two games stylized the whole 90s gritty noir. The serious tragic character of Max trying to make sense of it all, trying to find the truth, just trying to survive another day. In this one, Max is struggling again to move forward from his tragic loss of his wife, yet he never mentions his love interest Mona in the second game, nor mention anything from his past events past the second game, just the event from the first which is a bit odd consider the sequel heavily talks about of letting go of the pain, but it seems he never went past it, maybe we know why without me spoiling what happen at the end of the sequel.

There is heavily, inner dialogue of the gritty world around where he lives, about his alcoholism, numb his pain with painkillers. It is quite sad to see the state of Max, however it felt a bit dragged on and the motion blur effect from cutscenes started to annoy me at some point. I know is trying to show Max being an alcoholic, but it made me motion sickness seeing that effect every cutscene that I felt they could have eased up a bit. His dialogue of viewing the world of Sao Paulo was interesting, seeing the corruption of the law, the bribing, crime etc, all felt real, but I don’t know if is me that I’ve seen the world more than enough to know what it is, but the things Max describe of “the corruption of the law” is nothing new. Hell, I basically knew the twist before Max came up on who did who. It wasn’t unique, it felt a bit comical of how everything that Max sees people dying left and right felt like I should put a whamp whamp sound when bad things happen to Max seemingly for no reason but to make Max suffer even more. My biggest gripe of the game, what makes Max striving for exactly?

Usually from the last two games, you are confronted with both the psychological truth about yourself, and the reality of facing the truth of what happened. In this game it felt separate from the two games, and I know it is because this game was made by Rockstar studio, I get it. I’m not saying what they did is a bad job, but you don’t have those trippy moments of Max’s inner battle like that endless hallway level, or the horror attraction room. Both of which shows you are progressing solving the case while also finding out about yourself. This one felt like you were there to escape your past, you got a gig as a security firm, and you are just in there for the ride as a tool trying to prove yourself that you are not a tool, heck the game even acknowledges you as a tool.

What exactly is Payne even fighting for? The first is about finding out the truth of his dead wife and child. The second is about finding love again, what is he fighting for[/] exactly? Truth? Fighting his alcoholic addiction? That’s where I felt kinda disappointed with what would the final game could offer, and they had this opportunity with his new friend Passos they could have explored a bit more. Seeing that Raul has a bit of Max within him, and Max could try to give him the better opportunity that he never had. It would have totally this game have a theme going on which is teaching a washed up cop how to cherish life, or something. Overall, I don’t think the story is alright, the story became corny with Max’s serious talk, but is to be expected, the story felt hokey, but I was more in it for the gameplay. It still was a satisfying game to play, and a good conclusion to the Max Payne series.

Look for a sale, and letting you know that you do need to tie the steam version game to the Rockstar account to play this game. If you don’t want to, you can mod it by simply disconnecting that feature. Is been an enjoyable ride for this series, but it is time to drop the pills and look forward to what's next to come…in my next review! See you then!

Food for Thought

Welp, this is it, it has been a good journey to play this series, ofcourse there is the spin off game, but this game is consider the last of the We Were Here series. Unless the devs decide to make more, I will consider at least this review stands as the last of the main series. Let us begin.

I'm amaze how the developers make each game adding more and more as the series progress. From a free game released around 2017 to 2022. They have add more lore into the game, they have add more graphical achievements with each installment, and the puzzles are getting more elaborate. So how is this game in particular? The game got more coop sync, although yes in the previous games the games were obvious coop base, In the past your characters were mostly separated with different tasks.

The last game you and your friend got together a bit more than the first two. This one you are more sharing the tasks from each other and exploring the same room, than separate sections of the room, if you get what I mean? The puzzles are more so tied into the plot of the main game you are trying to make rather than "oh just escape this room and on to the next."

In this game you are trying to find your lost friends, finding some mcguffin pieces and explore a bit of the map area. Is not an open world, the puzzle levels got bigger, so the puzzles are more elaborate than ever, which is good. It does not feel force, or redundant, we each figure out what our assign role is and we figure it out. In the past we are force to be an assign role, in this one is a bit more flexible in the roles we accidentally get assign what. So can argue with your friend going "oh let me pull the lever and you read the map," you can do that.

The plot is mostly the same as in the past games, with a little of the antagonist side, I notice each game have the same plot, but different lore, I like it since is like tasting the same dish with different spices add into them. I did not grow bored, the puzzles were not too hard except one I did not enjoy which was the time base material alchemy making section. The rest was fine, especially you got hints, it was a good pace, it did not feel too long, we figure things out eventually, but it was the longest game in our playthrough in the series because of how long the story have gotten, which again it was fine.

That's really much it about the game, I am glad I get the chance to play this series, because without this series I don't think I would have develop an interest in Escape Puzzle genre and now I want to do more like this in the future. See you on my next review of the We Were Here series which is the spin off Friendship game!

Food For Thought

God, this game gave me a big smile because it reminded me of better days, yeah I know grampa it's having his senior moment, so sit down and listen to my story rant!

I would come home from grade school and just play all kinds of classic N64 games, Banjo-Kazooie, Super Smash Bros. Mario 64, Legend of Zelda, it was just my childhood. So playing this game absolutely gave me a nostalgia drive on max mode, this game did an excellent job in recreating the 64bit era game, I am surprise how spot on the devs must have work hard to make it look right. When I say spot on I mean, they went out the extra mile, that you can set up your display monitor screen to look like the old CRT TV, including with an actual n64 controller, you can technically play ooooold school. I can already tell the devs just made this game with passion.

So, how is the gameplay? Very good, I am surprise the control plays very well, I was a little concern if the devs went too old school with tank control or stiff movements, it's running like butter and the game highly recommend you to play a controller, in fact is mandatory which I mean is very much worth it. The character you control feels right, any mistake you made is by your own fault, the platform in this game is very well made solid.

The protagonist and the characters, I swear the way they are drawn in the 2D sketch made me think its an Invader Zim inspired artstyle, because the expression the goats made is just priceless. The 3D models are all well animated, I would love more of this artstyle, is very charming, the goat characters act like actual middle school teens, where Seve the protagonist you will be playing just wants his nachos, and his friend Alexis is absolutely that middle school friend girl you hang out with causes you suffering, but you still hang out with her regardless, is just classic teen friends.

Very classic collectathon game, you collect all sorts of stuff, and you traverse through levels, although sadly there is only one big level you will be in for most of your playthrough and this is my big issue of the game. The game is too short to end it this way! Yes, there are different levels, but the tutorial world I would not count as a first true level, is still a good level, but not jumping in to the main feast, is more of an appetizer. The 2nd level you enter will be the majority of your playthrough and it is big, it has lots of contents. Lots to explore, one thing I will give credit to the devs is that the clockwork village world has lots of things to do so is not really lackluster, however....you will get bored from this world. Mainly the music, look I love the music in the game, but if the majority is the clockwork village hearing the same thing, it starts to drive you crazy hearing the same theme over and over again, now the good thing that yet another kudos to the devs is they made the theme change its pitch and tone whenever you change environment. So is not exactly the same, it's clever, but you still will get tired of hearing the same track and world, which they have pointed there are bonus levels yes.

After the main level world, you get the final world which is just an endurance test world to see if you learn all the things you learn back from the previous level. Is still sad that I am close to finishing the game and wanted more from this game. Developing games takes forever, I get it, totally get it, the bonus levels depends on your collection can still keep you entertaining, however these bonus levels are again endurance test levels. I still wanted another world to explore, just one more, if I ask one more is because I love the game too much to end it so soon. I would hope they will make a sequel or another game like this because this game is just too good to end it like this. Too much potential, it really made me remember a time where I don't have to worry being an adult and just be a kid again. Hopefully when they get a bigger team maybe we could have just an extra world besides these bonus levels to double my playtime to 10hrs or so. Either way the game gets a solid recommendation to buy it and play on your down time!

Food For Thought: We Were Here Together

This has probably so far been the best out of the previous two games from the We Were Here series. The lore has been more fleshed out than ever before, the puzzles are creatively fun and the world is more expansive than ever, let me elaborate.

Previously from the two games I’ve been noticing how progressively getting better as each installment goes which is how it should be for every game when the developers are getting better with their franchise. This is probably their best one yet, the animation and how the two players' reactions are more “alive” so to speak where you are not constricted with just the castle alone, but the outside world. Yes, eventually you will go to the famous castle soon, but the puzzle layout from the outside felt bigger than the previous We Were Here games. The puzzles are more clever which doesn't mean it is necessarily better than the two previous games, but how much more resources it has, the puzzles are getting clever.

The story is nothing new then what we’ve heard already from the last two games, but this one has more at stake than previous games. In fact, if you want to get the whole story you basically have to play two times, play a different character because the cut scenes are much different, so understanding the plot you essentially have to play the game twice to get the full picture of the plot. Is good for replay value since you get two different types of puzzles each time.

I highly recommend the We Were Here series as a whole, but this one I think is how much the developers are improving the franchise each time they make it,can’t wait for the 4th installment of We Were Here Forever!

Food for Thought Review

Is game night, you and your friends decide to play wholesome fun games and all went well, until that one friend decide to bring in some weird card game and and convince you all to play some card war type game. You all got convinced and when the least expected trying to show your best poker face and suddenly BAM! Someone draw a sub machine gun and all hell breaks lose where everyone is suddenly wanted to kill each other! That is Friends vs. Friends essentially as the intro trailer explained.

You and your friends go 1v1 or 2v2 to try and kill each other by drawing the best cards as possible, the most kill points wins! Really that is about it in terms of gameplay, is really simple, is luck base and because you are bound by the luck of the cards to see if a good card to draw in your situation whether it be an offense or defense play....or activating a trap card! yes I am pulling the Yugioh references hush
The game can be fun with friends if you got some score to settle, but if you don't have some buddies who are willing to brawl with you, you can brawl with strangers! Each win you get exp and you essentially gain money to buy card pack to get more cards, red coins for cosmetic stuff, or certain levels to unlock new characters for their abilities! There are weekly and daily missions to gain more stuff which is alright I guess. The game doesn't have many contents, but I like the charm of it. I like some of the maps, they are planning to add new characters, maps, cards and more modes. I would view this as admiring the simplicity and the creativity of the card fighting game. Is not always skill base, is luck base which spice up the match where you have to plan which cards you are willing to take with you and see if you can either save the card for later or use it for that situation you're in. It builds strategy rather than the simple pew pew no scope type of multiplayer shooter that I've seen in every multiplayer shooters these days.

Is good to have this game on sale and even better if you get the deluxe dlc for future updates if you want the dlc characters, this game is not flashy like other multiplayer games and is good to have one of those quick match rounds where you feel you want to play for 10 minutes and you are good. Don't expect to be a big AAA multiplayer quality, just view it as a charming simple destructive fun with you and your friends to settle the score and restore your honor the next time you lose to a game of Monopoly, that will settle the score with them. ;D
