Great game, but Linux users should be aware that you really should run this in Proton and apply some of the launch options that are on ProtonDB. The native Linux build has performance issues which don't get me wrong, this game isn't exactly the best optimised, but you'll have a much better experience if you use the Proton version. Regardless of the fact that this game stretches the Source engine to its limits, it's a beautiful experience.

Atlus have the ability to make great remasters/remakes. They've proven this with the Persona series. Games like Persona 3 Reload. So that's the kind of remake/remaster quality I was expecting going into this.
Having to install a bunch of mods just to make a... 2020 game ACTUALLY have 2020 (screw that, mid 2010s) features like 60fps (honestly I'd prefer 120fps), 16:9 cutscenes and music that isn't ripped straight from the PS2 release? Hell no. This is unacceptable.
Then of course, the game just froze during the intro cutscene for me. Absolute cinema.
Besides, the game looks like a Unity asset flip on my computer. I have a 4K monitor and the models genuinely looked worse than Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

If I ever feel like playing smt 3 nocturne, I'll just emulate the PS2 version. It's cheaper and I don't have to lower my expectations by a lot.

Price, the grinding and the fact that this ♥♥♥♥ should've been included in the base game: 👎🏻

Great game, really. This game builds up the characters better than the other modern Persona games do, and the story is very neat. However, Teddie sucks and I wish Atlus would let you beat him up

Yet another banger, but damn :'(

This port sucks ass, and it really hurts. I want to like this port, because of the Steam achievements, but everything else is just so horribly implemented. It also doesn't have Steam cloud saves. The Switch version is probably the best official variant of Cave Story, but doukutsu-rs is apparently a good re-implementation of this game and it's even free.

The game itself is pretty damn good though, but I've yet to complete the best ending just because of the lack of cloud saves.

I've completed both neutral and true pacifist endings of this game now (I'm not sure if I'll do genocide, but maybe) and I think this is a really good game. The battles are fun, characters are interesting, story is good and the music slaps. I don't really need much more than that in a game. The UI feels a bit clunky at times though, but this is a very minor complaint. Also, I got this on sale for like 17,50 kr which is straight up grand larceny.

Just buy the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game already.
