Comrades,
We are gathered today at a moment of great importance for our people and our socialist homeland. In the years that have passed, under the leadership of the Romanian Communist Party, we have achieved significant progress in developing our economy and improving the living standards of our entire nation.
We must continue to develop the national economy, to use all our resources with maximum efficiency, and to constantly raise the material and spiritual living standards of our people.
Comrades, we will continue our policy of national independence and sovereignty, of friendly cooperation with all the countries of the world, based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.
Socialist Romania will firmly defend its right to decide its own destiny, actively contributing to peace and collaboration among the peoples of the world.
Let us work with devotion and confidence in our own strength to build a better life for the Romanian people and to strengthen our socialist homeland.
