I tested it and unfortunately you are incorrect. Sacred Bloom Shield has the exact same "Spell Parry" skill as the Golden Wing Crest Shield - a parry deflects spells over your character. The only differences between the two are the size class and defenses when used to block

It becomes even cooler when you use the Sacred Bloom Shield, I believe this can reflect it back to the caster
