Introduction & Clarifications
This guide seeks to offer concise guidance for all possible endings within Return To Ash, this is both for the sake of brevity, and in an attempt to keep the guide as spoiler-free as possible. As a result, the steps listed in each section will only outline the choices that (in my testing) were necessary* to reach a given ending. This is because many instances of choices appear in which a choice doesn't have any impact on which story branch you end up following (such as the very first 3 you're given, no matter what you decide to do, Ash will eventually leave the room in order to progress the plot). To this end, whenever the steps listed for a given ending stop, this is because you have made all necessary choices and will inevitably get the given ending for that section. In other words, if the instructions just suddenly stop don't worry, it just means you're on the path to getting your desired ending.

I will fully admit that as of writing this, I have not comprehensively tested my routes, but I have generally found that following these steps, but then picking random choices at every other opportunity would still result in the desired ending. I fully recommend anyone who found a choice I missed to comment about it, and I'll update the guide as needed.

*regarding winning "Reaper's Pickup" I consider it a "non-essential" choice as while many endings technically require losing it/declining it, I just assume doing so to be the natural decision of any given player and as such isn't necessary to specify. Simply put, when Reaper's Pickup ever comes up, do not win Reaper's Pickup unless explicitly told to do so

Without further ado...
Revive Alone:
A unique ending due to it having 3 distinct methods to obtain it, choosing any one of these is enough to check off the "Revive Alone" ending in-game, as well as get the corresponding achievement "Second Chances". However, in the interest of total completion, we'll cover all three methods, starting with:

"Leave Scarlet Behind":

1.) "Follow Scarlet"

2.) "Follow Her"

3.) "Check On Death"

4.) "Not Like This"

"Abandon Rouge":

1.) "Follow Scarlet"

2.) "Follow Her"

3.) "Follow Scarlet"

4.) "Press The Button"

"Win Reaper's Pickup"

Getting to Reaper's Pickup is practically inevitable, but if you'd like a sample route to follow to ensure you encounter it, follow these steps:

1.) "Follow Scarlet"

2.) "Follow Her"

3.) "Play Death's Game"

Now that you're here, all you need to do is win Reaper's Pickup. If you feel like winning the game legitimately, I applaud your patience. If you'd rather keep your sanity intact, I strongly advise referring to this guide made by user darkmikasonfire https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3525635547
Revive With Scarlet:
Now that you've revived alone, let's try it again, but this time making some friends along the way. Up first is Scarlet, reviving with her will net you the Scarlet's Promise achievement.

1.) "Follow Scarlet"

2.) "Follow Her"

3.) "Follow Scarlet"

4.) "Find The Others"
Revive With Celadon:
Up next is Celadon, reviving with him grants you the "Celadon's Friendship" achievement

1.) "Help Celadon"

2.) "Chat With Celadon"
Revive With Death:
Our last character-related ending is with Death, completing this ending will net you the "Mauve's Sacrifice" achievment.

1.) "Follow Scarlet"

2.) "Leave"

3.) "Take It"

4.) "Play Death's Game"

Note: it is imperative to attempt Reaper's Pickup, but do still give up, winning or declining the game leads to different routes

5.) "Say Nothing"
Bad Endings:
It's possible you're getting some Déjà vu if you've familiar with the writer's past work, but either way, Return To Ash offers 2 Bad Endings to collect.

Bad Ending 1:

Completing this ending will grant you the "Ash to Ash" achievement upon completion

1.) "I'd rather be alone"

2.) "Leave this place"

3.) "Leave"

Bad Ending 2:

This ending is the only one which lacks a corresponding Steam achievement, but is still required for 100% completion within the game itself.

1.) "Follow Scarlet"

2.) "Leave"

3.) "Take It"

4.) "Play Death's Game"

Again, take great care to at least attempt Reaper's Pickup, but do give up in the end.

5.) "Help Persuade Celadon"/"Apologize To Scarlet"

Both choices result in the same outcome, just be sure to avoid "Say Nothing"
Conclusion
I hope this guide proves useful for anyone seeking all the endings for the game. This is actually my first time ever making a Steam Guide, while I think I did a serviceable job, do excuse some of the sloppiness in the formatting, I haven't exactly mastered this skillset yet.

I would like to again thank user darkmikasonfire for their Reaper's Pickup guide (as well as the other users who were generous enough to post the solution). I never would have had the patience to solve that game legitimately.

And again, please feel free to tell me if I missed something and need to add/edit steps for any of the endings listed here.
Revisions:
This is probably unnecessary, but I felt inclined to record edits I make if I ever feel like touching up this guide.

8/12/25:
  • Added a spoiler filter to images showing Death without their mask as I realized this is a bit of a light spoiler.
  • Added a proper route for "Win Reaper's Pickup", by no means is this the only way to reach it, but it felt incomplete without at least one sample route as a guide to reach it. I also more thoroughly credited darkmikasonfire in that section (this guide literally would not have been made without that guide).
  • Removed the "after step _ , you're set on _ ending" comments and just added a blanket statement in the introduction as I felt these statements were redundant and added clutter to the main part of the guide.
  • Miscellaneous small text revisions.

I'm very thankful for this guide, I couldn't even find a wiki for this game
