I am a moron. I made this post because of the bullwhip story and then immediately forgot to include the bullwhip story.
Victor saying “the sun is life” means so much more when he proceeds to trap his creation away from it.
“The sun is life.”
And you shall not see it.
Victor thinks so lowly of the Creature, that he deprives him of something as minuscule as the warmth of the sun.
And in trapping the Creature where the sun can’t reach him, Victor Frankenstein practically tells him right from the start that he does not deserve life, nor the simple pleasures of it.
The sun is life.
He thinks the creature has no life.
The final scene of the movie, the Creature is bathed in sunlight.
It’s like he finally understands his value, and knows that he is in fact worthy of the simple pleasures of the world.
Have you guys noticed how much the internet/technology just does not listen to you anymore? I click “don’t show this artist” on Spotify and I get recommended a music video by them on the front page. I click “skip this update” on a pop up every time I open a file organization app and it’s right back there every time. O click unsubscribe on a newsletter and it keeps showing up in my inbox!! I click “delete my account” and the next time I open the website they suggest I “reactivate”.
