(repurposing this old post into an intro)

hi! you can call me xylaria, xy, or i guess some variation of my url if you want.

this is an art + photos blog, expect mainly my art and occasionally a cool mushroom or something i found in the woods. i reblog from @strobilomyces-confusus

dms open if you want to talk about anything, especially diy/creative process stuff, i like comparing notes with ppl

i am open to art trades, if you want one feel free to ask!

i don't mind construction criticism or tips, particularly on my traditional art/crafting stuff - i'm in a stage of wanting to try a whole bunch of different cool things, which means that i am an absolute beginner at most of them, and if you are experienced and know that i am making an absolute beginner mistake (tm) i'd like to know about it too!

you can also send me mushrooms you've found. i encourage this. i do not guarantee an accurate id every time but i can Try

came out to my dad and he was like "what i just don't get is why you would want to be a boy. i've never wanted to be a boy" like ok. have you considered,

i don't think vampires are overdone actually i think vampires are fucking great. in this day and age a vampire can be a metaphor for absolutely anything and i think that's beautiful

art fighting this year !! got 1 human character and several anthros/creatures as of right now go look at my little guys

@strobilomyces-strobilaceus What did you use to draw on the boots? I've been wanting to do this but with my favorite bug (the Hercules beetle) but I've heard paint pens require touch ups/can flake easily. If you wouldn't mind sharing what you used/any tips you have on how to make custom boots that last, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

i used angelus brand leather paint, should be available at any craft/hobby type store :] takes a couple layers of paint to get solid lines, but the amount of detail you can get and the overall effect is really nice. i didn't use any kind of sealant/finisher on these, but they do also make sealants if you're worried about chipping, and i've also heard of ppl using clear nail polish (probably cheaper)
