Arcane Dirge is proud to present the debut album from Subverge, sideproject of Henrik Karlsson, famous for his work in industrial act Seven Trees. Hailing from Sweden, Henrik first started experimenting with dark ambient soundscapes in 1993, heavily influenced by many of the early Cold Meat Industry releases. At that time, a couple of demos were recorded but no releases were put out. However, decades later after the endavours in Seven Trees -- resulting in releases on labels such as Zoth Ommog, Metropolis Records, Progress Productions and Energy Rekords -- Karlsson feels it is time to do something different and unleash a debut album. He describes the release as a “back to the roots” dark ambient album, channeling somber atmospheres in the vein of early Raison D’etre and In Slaughter Natives, combined with aspects of martial industrial and modern classical. “Zechrum” is a diverse album, with tracks ranging from pure dark ambient to bombastic martial pieces, forming a compelling entity held together by Henrik’s signature layering of dramatic strings, luscious pads and melancholic piano-- sometimes presented in a way that leans towards early Delerium.
