maverickhunterdboy-deactivated2 asked: About your fan You Don't Know Jack games on NewGrounds... um, I haven't found a Gibberish Question yet (that or maybe I was unlucky in getting one). Would you like me to give you some suggestions for a Gibberish Question?

((MOD: And I’ll get this one for the same reasons. Both currently released fangames have a set question order like for 2011 onwards and some of the earlier titles. Episode 2’s Gibberish Question isn’t in the main game, it’s hidden in the main menu. Tab your way across every menu screen, you’ll find it eventually. Also, SC gives instructions to find it at the end of the game… if you get a three-way tie.

Also, to be clear, I have ask open on my main blog. For out-of-universe questions like this, you’re better off dropping them there.))

maverickhunterdboy-deactivated2 asked: Do you occasionally post You Don't Know Jack Questions on Tumblr? Because I think it'd be just as funny here as it is on DA and Newgrounds!

((MOD: Might as well field this myself, since it’s not really addressing the characters. A short time ago, I actually made a YDKJ:GOE side blog. Most of the initial questions are from the first two MSN episodes, minus the ones I’ve deemed completely bull and misleading. Currently it updates twice a day. Some of them are also modified, usually removing the generic wrong-answer responses and replacing them with fresh new ones. I’m not sure what I’ll do once I run out of finished questions, since I’m not really “into” JACK right now. We’ll see how it flows.))

Mad Hatter Chao: The logic goes like this: an imaginary friend is an entity that is made up within the imagination of someone for the purpose of interactin’ with them. A character in a story is an entity that is made up within the imagination of someone for the purpose of playin’ a part in a scenario.

Don’t sound too different, do they?

That’s m'man’s, and by extension my, theory: characters are imaginary friends, and imaginary friends are characters. We’re the same sort of thing, just one Wall lower.

See, a bit that Miss Tamany left out when talkin’ about cross-dimensional transformations is that the multiverse is divided inta layers. Each layer has a number of dimensions in it each, and the “lower” each layer is, the more “fictional” it is in relation to the layer above it. The barriers that separate these layers are known as “Fourth Walls.” Movin’ around on layers below is easier than pie; once you’re on a layer below the one ya were born on, there might as well not be other Walls, which makes it nearly impossible to tell exactly which layer in relation to the other, or at least it’s easier to just not think about it. The problem is getting through that first Wall; everyone finds the Wall below him - or her - harder than bedrock, and movin’ sideways to other dimensions on the layer or up to the layer above is next to impossible. The only way to reach up to a layer above is by a sort of morphogenetic field-like transmitting in the form of imagination, which then take form on that higher layer as fictional characters - and imaginary friends.

TL;DR: we’re sentient for pretty much the same reasons “real” people like Shard or SC are. There’s a layer below Shard, which she can’t reach, where there’s a you with his own story, and the idea of him being transmitted up forms you. Same case for me and m'man.

O'course, we could also just be tulpas. That’s also possible. Though those have to be intentional, so it’s a bit iffy.
