Helping
Yang: You okay?
Weiss: *sitting at a desk* Yes, I'm just in a bad mood after dealing with my father.
Yang: *Walks over and sits her tits on Weiss' head*
Weiss: ...What are you doing?
Yang: Cheering you up. This always worked with my guy friends at Signal.
Yang: Is it helping?
Weiss: Mm-mmph! Mmmm!
children heed my warning. one day your body’s check engine light will come on and demand that you start eating so many vegetables and whole grains. do not ignore it.
I want to explain this a bit more since 'health' and 'biology' are loosely speaking, special interests of mine and also what I went to school for.
People SAY that your health 'suddenly' starts to decline in your 30s but that's not really a good way to put it A) bc that's not really accurate and B) bc it frames this decline as something inherent and unavoidable, which does nothing to convince you that you have some agency about this.
So I'm going to explain this in LOOSE NON-SCIENTIFIC language:
When you are an infant or child, you are actively growing. Nature is throwing tons of new cells into you bc your body needs to BUILD BUILD BUILD. What you're able to do, eat and heal from is all largely dictated by this-- for example little kids often LOVE sweet foods or dairy-like foods and are relatively less interested in anything else. This is bc their body is running on HIGH all the time since building body parts is very energetically intensive. They can eat a fistful of sugarcubes and burn them off in an hour. Ask me how I know.
When you are a YOUNG ADULT you are actually still developing to a secondary extent, but your bones and such are fused and now that development goes into solidifying the structure and also finetuning its reproductive capabilities and features-- these, too, are HIGHLY energy consumptive when they first come online. Nature is STILL, thus, throwing tons of energy and new cells your way hoping you'll do something cool with them. You regenerate very quickly, and recover from harm rapidly-- But please note: swift recovery from harm is not absence of harm. This most relates to the consumption of 'junk food' and alcohol-- many people say they could 'eat whatever they wanted and nothing would happen' when they're in their 20s or that they could go out drinking and 'not be affected'. You were affected. You didn't notice.
Once everything has come online you go into maintenance mode. Nature stops throwing excess cells and energy your way bc you don't need that-- your body is yours and you are now responsible for maintaining it...hopefully with what you learned by experience in your 20s. IF YOU WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION, you did not learn this, and are in for a surprise in your 30s bc your 'free recovery' subscription has ended. Recovery and maintenance- processes that are constant in the human body- now cost MINERALS & ELECTRICITY. You can go into DEBT now, and that debt will come in the form of joints that pop, inability to recover well, lowered immune function, and feeling like shit.
This debt accrues interest RAPIDLY once you hit 36-- the age of around 36 to 46 or so is a kind of reckoning stage where Nature assesses how well you've managed your body and you will be SWIFTLY downgraded if the result is you were just winging it.
So how do you build this account? 2 main things ( LOOSELY SPEAKING this is so not 100% scientific but I have to be general here): MINERALS -- you get these from eating well, mostly. You might want to take supplements based on your unique needs. But you need Minerals & Vitamins (i'm lumping these two together) bc they are the chemical building blocks (currency) your body uses to rebuild and fix up cells. ELECTRICITY is- again loosely speaking- having the proper chemical voltage throughout your body. This 'voltage' drops when you don't move enough, or when you're dehydrated. The building and repairing process your body wants to do may have the materials (minerals and vitamins) but there's not enough power in the factory, or the AC isn't working and the workers are overheating and can't work well. To fix this, drink lots of water and MOVE AND STRETCH your body. The action within your muscles and bones GENERATES ENERGY and it keeps your cells happy.
So the thing is, it's not that you suddenly find yourself taking damage after 30+. You were taking damage the whole time. You're just kept from really feeling it bc you're young and full of extra juice and given time to figure things out.
But at some point Nature expects you to do that, and you will pay if you don't.
Best to start out giving a shit, even if none of your friends think you're cool, even if you get called a 'health nut' bc you will still be able to frolick at 45, 50, probably so on while everyone who said it was dumb to have 'balanced meals' shares memes about how they wake up feeling like shit every day.
Sidenote don't let our shitty fatphobic society obscure the fact that it's okay to care about what you eat. Counting calories or being preoccupied with physical perfection is a sad way to relate to your body BUT that doesn't mean that paying attention to your diet AT ALL is bad. Baby, bath water, etc.
My goat ranting has been justified for this day.
your 'free recovery' subscription has ended
smh. can't own shit in this economy
Btw, this also goes for things like ergonomics. You may have never needed good sitting posture, or lumbar support, or proper typing technique, or a monitor riser, or good shoe insoles, or... but the thing is, you did, though. You were taking damage the whole time, you were just healing so fast that you didn't notice. Back problems and repetitive strain injuries aren't inevitable in your 30s – but they're pretty inevitable if you go on treating your body as badly as you could get away with treating it in your 20s.
Just to add on, there is a global pandemic of lack of sleep occurring across the planet. Your body uses sleep to do an incredible amount of healing, recovering, growing, and cleaning out gunk in addition to encoding memories.
All the nutrients and exercise and drinking water won't truly help you if you're sleeping like shit every night, because you're not letting your body getting critical healing and recovery periods.
You don't get a second chance at sleep. If you learn something or experience something lovely & awesome and that night you sleep like shit, studies show you will NOT recall it nearly as well compared to if you sleep well.
You're not going to feel the impacts of poor sleep in your teens and 20s, but you increasingly will as you age. Your sleep quality WILL degrade as you get older, but there's things you can do now to improve what you've got, while you've still got it.

Hair Care
Pyrrha: Yang, Weiss, I need a favor!
Weiss: Of course!
Yang: What’s up, P-money?
Pyrrha: I want Jaune to grow his hair out but I don’t think he understands proper hair care.
Yang/Weiss:
Pyrrha: I know it’s a lot to ask! You would think that growing up with seven sisters he would have- 😅
Yang: *cracks her knuckles* We’ll break him down and rebuild him from the ground up! 😠
Weiss: *slams a toolbox of hair-care supplies on the table* Tell your noodle boyfriend to lock the fuck in! 😠
Pyrrha: 😨
Pyrrha: …oh, what have I unleashed on my boyfriend…? 😰
Jaune: I’m here to make you pay for your cruelties!
Brother of Darkness: You seek to rebel against your own creators? Don’t do anything foolish, child.
Jaune: You don’t stand a chance! I have the power of love on my side!
Brother of Light: Love? Love will not avail you if you seek to fight us.
Jaune: …and by “love,” I mean my badass girlfriend, who has been grinding up levels off-screen and who I can turbo-buff with my busted-ass semblance!
Pyrrha: *glowing and crackling with power* Hello again…! 🙂
Brother of Darkness: …this could be trouble.
Brother of Light: We should have destroyed our creation when we had the chance, but now it is too late.
I think it’s most important that I share with you a picture of the biggest rainbow trout I had, out of the 63 I examined
Pushing 400 grams!!!! Because that means nothing without context, at the beginning of the experiment (a month and a half ago) the average rainbow trout was 100-140 grams, and now, at the end of the experiment, the rainbow trout were in the 200-300 gram range. So like, add a hundred grams on top of that as well lol
She’s actually not dead or anything in this picture, but under anaesthesia! I put the trout under anaesthesia (small dose of clove oil) for weighing and measuring so that it’s a less stressful time for them and for me — it’s not easy to focus on the precise millimeters when the animal you want to measure is slippery and thrashing to get free and also you’re on a time limit since the trout can’t handle dry air forever
Cool! I’ve done something similar to help collect data from Brook Trout (we used MS-222 to knock them out). Can you tell us what your research project is? I’m guessing some kind of growth rate study?
Growth rate will probably be one of the parameters in my study (then again I already have like. 12-24 depending on how you count), but my main thing has been respiration during forced swimming (and the physiological effects of that) and welfare indicators! I'm testing how enrichment in the form of water flow changes impacts rainbow trout health directly and indirectly ^^
OOOH!!! I don’t want to dox anyone on tumblr but I so wanna read that!
What We Learned Today with Gilded Rose:
Jaune: I’ve learned a lot since I left home to become a huntsman, but one very important lesson is that tiny 110-pound girls with cute faces can be strong, and 6-foot muscular warrior women can be cute! ☝️🧐
Ruby: *flexes while juggling Crescent Rose one-handed* 😁
Pyrrha: *blushes and hides her face* 🫣

do you ever meet someone and you’re just amazed that such a kind and pure soul could exist on this planet
Ruby is the most aggressively hopeful character because even when the entire world is on the brink of disaster and there is every reason for despair she refuses to give up and when people give in to despair and switch sides she shoots them or chops off limbs.
You too can get the satisfaction of maiming or killing a spy embedded in your organization.
HELL YEAH DESHITTIFICATION!
For everything we do here, please be sure to be careful with what you edit, and restart your computer to lock things in. If you don't have access to the Group editor, (likely to happen if you're on base windows) you can do this as well by opening your Registry Editor app, then inputting this after your 'computer' or whatever the initial segment is. (Mine is computer. If I just try and paste the below string it gets SO mad at me)
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot
Navigating to your "turnoffwindowscopilot", hit modify, and set the value data to 1.
If done correctly, it'll look like this.
While we're at it, you can also get rid of the integrated search, (or that thing where it searches the web when you search anything, whether or not you want it to) and such through regedit as well.
Integrated search will have you going to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
Navigate to your "DisableSearchBoxSuggestions" bit, if you don't see it, you can make it by right clicking and creating a new registry D-Word key of that exact name. Edit the key, set it to 1. It'll look like this if you do it right!
To get rid of Windows Spotlight, (The thing where it pulls up ten billion pages on windows start page, shoving ads in your face and cluttering everything) we go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DesktopSpotlight\Settings
And set "Enabled State" To 0. If you do it right, it'll look like this!
Disabling edge on startup will also help a fair deal with processing speed and the like. This you can do in all sorts of ways, the easiest being turning it off entirely on startup through settings in the like.
If you want to kill it *entirely*, though? :)
In regedit, run along to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft
Navigate to your MicrosoftEdge key subcategory. If you don't see it, you can make one! Note, this is a KEY, not a d-word. *inside* that subcategory, we want to either make or find the D-Word key of PreventLaunchEdge and set that to 1 in the same way as all the others. It'll look like this.
Aaaand while we're here, I'd HIGHLY recommend shanking Killer Networking Services. It's just bloatware. (Ostensibly it's supposed to monitor your network bandwidth and even things out, but that really means it's constantly monitoring and pinging things, which eats up the bandwidth you DO get, and also chunks your computer's processing power.) Getting rid of it entirely is borderline impossible, since it's set to redownload on regular updates and intel is very pushy with its updates.
This you can do by opening your Services.msc, which basically shows you all the background stuff that Windows does. Find Anything with Killer in the name, right click it, go to properties, and disable startup. It should look like this, if done successfully. It will probably reenable itself in time/in later updates for windows, but it's a quick fix. I'd also check your TaskScheduler app to make sure that nothing's scheduled to open up there, either.
If you CAN completely kill Killer services through uninstalling and the like, I would warn that at very least for my computer, the only ethernet/lan support applications that are available ARE Killer's. When you download updates, you really do have to do it manually and ONLY download the ethernet services, or just be cool with not having Lan functionality.
One last thing, not a shit application but is a shit service. If your computer's constantly overheating or just warm, you likely have Turboboost enabled. (Default setting that you can't change) If you want to be able to turn it off and drop your temps by like 40 degrees, in Regedit go to
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7
(Note- This isn't the string copy paste from the reddit thread, this is mine that does the same thing. If my string doesn't work for you, check the reddit thread string. If that doesn't work either, you can follow the path and find it pretty easily. Probably has like, one letter of difference somewhere. The bits all start the same, though, so it's easy to find.)
and go to "attributes". Set the value from 1 to 2, and now in your advanced Power Plan settings in control panel, you'll be able to *see* turbo boost and turn it off.
It'll look like this, and in power options, a successful disabling of boost should look like this.
Turning off quick startup's also a good call, since that basically stops your restarts from actually shutting things down properly.
GOOD LUCK OUT THERE YALL. MAKE SURE TO CLEAN YOUR PC!
I would like to once again recommend to you all Winero Tweaker, a free program that lets you adjust a bunch of windows settings with a single click instead of digging through 30 different setting screens and registry entries.
There's well over a hundred settings, here's just a few of them:
(sorry the classic taskbar option no longer works with current windows 11 version)
Fair warning: This is a powerful tool which means it can also do some damage if you don't know what you're doing, but every setting comes with an extensive explanation, as you can see in the Ads and unwanted apps screenshot.
This tool will even turn windows 11 from a bloated mess into a (more or less, this tool isn't magic) usable operating system.
Some tech advice for you all from my personal blog. I figured the more people see this the better, and I got a lot more followers on this blog.
This is cool and all but installing Linux takes like half a minute
Just sayin
Well yes, but if you’re the sort of person who gets confused and frightened in the face of massive org charts and file directories, like I am, then you probably aren’t the sort of person who’s ever going to take to Linux.
Arent you having to go thrhough massive file directories to turn off the ai in the windows 11 anyways?
That’s why I reblogged the version of this post that suggests programs to help with that.
