A new chapter of my art journey has started, and with it came the need for a new icon.
Now that I have graduated and am thus no longer have most of my days taken up by classes and homework, I can finally properly get back into producing artwork again (though I’ll still be looking for a part time job for some income security).
As much fun as I’ve had with creating various icons for myself over the years, I felt it necessary to unify all of my accounts under one easily recognisable brand, so to say.
Creating this piece was a great joy – it had been a while since I’d gotten to use my Promarkers, and I’ve always loved combining markers and coloured pencils. I wanted to create something that felt joyous and hopeful, and I hope I’ve accomplished that.
I’m very excited to finally get to focus on my artwork again, and I hope you are excited as well!

Forest in Winter
My Forest in Winter painting is finally complete (I first started working on it May 21st 2018, and have been dabbling with it off and on since then), and the full version is currently up on Patreon!

I’m super pleased with how this piece came out, and will hopefully be making it into prints to sell at EF and other conventions in the future :D

things i did that forced me to be a better artist:
- used a reference for everything
- thinner line art (you think thats thin? go thinner….)
- sketch, then do a cleaner sketch, THEN start finalizing
- THUMBNAILS
- color research, picking a set palette or light/dark for each work
- you like that pose? redo it one more time
- USE A DAMN REFERENCE
- do not rely on stylization as an excuse for anatomy
- draw the goddamn background you coward
- just draw the hand- a bad hand is better than a hidden hand
- the rule of thirds WORKS
- take a considerable break between sketch and lines/paint
- know that art takes longer as you get better at it
- draw the seams on clothes
- stop aiming for accuracy and focus on fluidity and motion, accuracy will come with practice of those two concepts
- just…do the chiaroscuro. just DO IT. no excuses it always works
- stop making excuses, make yourself an art schedule/set weekly(or daily) art goals and just DO IT.

Draw This Again
My progress on the Draw This Again exercise. I’m pretty happy with the wolf’s colourscheme and the way the girl’s outfit is turning out, but now I’m tired and got stuck on shading the wolf’s pelt :’) Will continue tomorrow, probably.
Draw This Again - Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf
Saw a lot of people doing the ‘draw this again’ thing, and it looked like fun so I dregged something outta the box o’ old drawings, so to say, and got a nice start on redrawing it ^^ It’s nice to see how much my work has changed, and my knowledge of animal faces |3 It was also a nice experience to work on drawing that snarly face, it’s interesting how the nose gets pushed up when a wolf fully bares his chompers :)
Little Mutant: Marcia
Dearies, meet my newest brainbaby, Marcia. Born to a faun couple, something disturbed her development in the womb making the fae magic present in her get messed up, causing her to develop wrongly - one larger eye instead of two normal ones, grey-esque skin, and a tall, lanky build rather than the short, stocky build of the local fauns, which caused a lack of mobility as well as her legs don’t function exactly the way they should.
Her parents were horribly weirded out by the little oddity that was their newborn, and thus haven’t exactly treated her the way they should, which has resulted in her barely being able to speak apart from grunts and half-formed words, looking for ways to get her parents’ attention while they instead focus on her perfectly normal younger sister :V After a failed self-drowning attempt after having stumbled off she’ll end up under the protection of the forest’s guardian, with her folks getting properly punished for their neglect :B
I’m gunna draw more of her later, maybe to show her in comparison to her normally formed parents and younger sister and whatnot.
She’s a cutie <3
